Pours a deep copper-amber colour with a creamy-frothy beige head, good retention and thick foam-cream lace. The oat is a nice touch in the aromas covering the sweet caramel malts. It also adds creaminess in the mouthfeel. Roasted malt taste with some nuttiness, caramel and grassy hops in the finish. Hints of rustiness from this. Goes down very-well and this is one that is good for this size of bottle, to enjoy anytime. Quite nice to add the oat to a brown ale.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 6/3/2013. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, toffee, oak, light smoke/char, light spiced rum, and roast/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate rum barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, toffee, oak, light smoke/char, light spiced rum, and roast/yeast earthiness. Good amount of roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, toffee, oak, light smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness, balance, complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate rum barrel flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged imperial porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate rum barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bastante buena.

Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours hazy deep dark reddish brown with rather small offwhite head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty with toasted malts, dark bread, caramel, toffee, butterscotch hard candy, vanilla fudge, charred wood, hay, moist soil, roasted coconut, caramelized almonds and minerals. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter and malty with dark bread, caramel, vanilla fudge, charred wood, prunes, raisins, hay, moist soil, hazelnuts and bourbon alcohol. Mouthfeel is fat, round, tiny dry, very tiny tart, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with dark bread, caramel, vanilla fudge, charred wood, moist soil, hay, hazelnuts and hints of bourbon alcohol and lemon zest. Beefy malt bomb! Enjoyable...

Amber, cloudy, decent, light floral nose, has light earthy taste, quite yeasty, and overall balanced and unexciting. Not much rye and no bock.
