Description
In 1824 master brewer Johann Philipp Ledermann came to the small village Döllnitz near Halle and started brewing Gose at Döllnitz Manor. The brewery continued to brew gose till WW 2. After the war the manor brewey was dismantled and the original gose was brewed at several places up till 2015.
Since 2015 we brew our "Original Ritterguts Gose" in close collaboration with Brauerei Reichenbrand in Chemnitz. This small, classic family-brewery fulfills all the requirements necessary for the optimization of our very special brewing process -- in particular the availability of open-fermentation, which we consider a primary component in making a proper gose.

First Snowfall of the Season tasting in Odense. Courtesy of Stefan Stadler, Indslev Bryggeri. Golden with a small white head. Odd, but interesting aroma of exotic fruit, grain and grass. Dry and tart fruity flavour with a hint of smoke. There is definitely a salty fullness in the flavour which makes it the first gose where I actually tasted salt. Very interesting with high drinkability if you’re into unusual beers

Bottled. A deep red beer with a pink head. The aroma has notes of cherries and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and cherries, leading to a dry finish, where the cherry note lingers.

I was so happy to see this bottle, I never thought I would get to try this but Matt pulled it out of nowhere. Pours is a clear golden color with a small head that fades at an average rate. The beer has a lightly sticky lacing. Aroma is weird creamy-lager (interesting, not sure what is going on, maybe its old). The creaminess is akin to vanilla but still lagered. Flavor is actually lightly lacto or just some bugginess to it. its tangy and light and I think just a little bit of salt. The beer goes on to dry out super nicely. As it sits and warms the tart aspect appears in the aroma as well. There is a faint corn aspect to it. Light and easy drinking despite the weird creamy aspect. Thanks again Matt.

0.5 l bottle thanks to my parents, who brought it from Leipzig. It poured hazy orange body with bigger head. Fine spicy aroma, coriander, sourish but still cloying in yeasty way. Very fine sour flavor, nicely spiced with coriander again dominating the most, slightly salty as well, although not as much as I’ve expected, comparing to some beers I’ve tried where salt wasn’t a stated ingredient. Nicely balanced and rounded with medium to full body, especially if you consider its low alcohol content. Finish was very nice sour and even slightly sweetish near the very end. As it’s the case with most of sour ales which are not extremely sour, I like it quite much. Definitely a nice experience to try this rare style!

.5 liter bottle shared by mreusch. 07.2010 stamped on the label. Pour is a mostly clear golden copper with a small white head that falls quick. Aroma starts off with bathroom cleanser, along with a mild sweetness (powder vanilla), and some citrus fruit behind that. Kind of a weird nose. Taste is initially quite sour citrus, citric wheat, with some of the yeastiness of the nose and finishing with a healthy dose salt. The taste is bright, and integrates nicely - unique and very different. As this opened, the flavors really came together. Palate is medium bodied, soft, lightly carbonated, dry salty finish. Real interesting, thanks for sharing Matt.
