Bottle (3 Monts). Beautiful clear pale gold with excellent white head. Soft and subtle aroma with fruity esters, delicate spice and grassy notes. Medium body and fairly light carbonation, with a slightly oily, but pleasant, mouthfeel. Complex rich but light flavour. There’s fruit (banana) and spice and an interesting contrast with the finish which displays fresh grassy hop bitterness. Overall a very good beer.

Very pale golden pour. Aroma is very light malty caramel. Taste is grassy bitter and dry. Beer was better than its rating suggests, but not one I’d probably buy again. Rated 3/16/03

Pours amber with a thick cream head. Fabulous-looking beer (some people are clearly using the appearance rating to adjust their scores - or "blind" doesn’t mean either of the things I thought). Deep toffee aroma with prunes, figs and white pepper. Taste is sweet and at first delicate. Light touches of dark molasses-like sugars. Macerated cherries. Carbonated mouthfeel, but still rich and pretty heavy. Dry finish with a little sour cherry and alcohol hotness. Reminds me of various fortified wines - lovely but a little po-faced.

not what i expected it to be, i think i was thinking more of a farmhouse ale or saison, but this is so well balanced, nice hio kick on the front of the tongue, with a malty sweetness that goes down so easy. really interesting and complex beer, HUGE white head that took at least 5 minutes to dissapate enough for me to take a sip. very interesting to say the least.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy blonde with a medium white head. Light aroma of yeast and wheat. Flavour of wheat, grains, citrus, and hints of coriander. Palate is rather dry, especially towards the end. Quite good.

Bottle bought in Carrefour Calais, France. Deep ruby coloured pour with a huge head. Sweet aroma, Tastes quite sweet, roasty, malty, bready, fruity. Quite complex for a biere de garde. Nice one, will get some more on my next trip across the channel.

Very clear yellow beer, looks more like lemonade. Very carbonic. Nice long lasting head. Smells like a sweet lager (pilsner). Tastes a little acidic to bitter, just like lager. Pretty flat taste experience. Practically no aftertaste. Would be a good thirst quencher were it not for the high amount of alcohol and the price. Oh, and the annoying cork-clamp. Almost cut myself forcing that thing of.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear amber with a frothy off-white head. Nutty, caramelish aroma. Solid body with a soft mouthfeel, toffee, burned caramel, and nuts with a skewed farmhouse touch. Some warming alcohol in the finish and and a phenollic whiff. Quite pleasant. 020210

75 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge off-white head. Aroma is mild fruity and vague mouldy. Caramelish and light oxidised malty flavoured. Mild bitterness and vague caramelish malty finish.
