Draft. A- Roasty, malty, cocoa, coffee, toast, soy, nutty. A- Black color, dark liquid, minimal tan head. T- Roasty, malty, slightly bitter, coffee, dry cocoa, soy sauce, nutty. P- Medium body, thin texture, medium carbonation, roasty finish. O- Maybe a session porter isn’t a good idea. This had some odd flavors to it and was just really thin and fizzy. Not the best.

Draft. A- Tropical fruits, citrus, wheat, spices. A- Gold color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Spices, subtle fruits. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish. O- Not bad, not great. It didn’t seem to have a ton of depth but it was a decent brew.

Tap at the brewery - typical abrasive american barleywine that borders on imperial ipa territory - nose and flavor are very basic - sticky, innocuous sweetness, caramelized sugars, light cherry - second half dominated by potent, moderately abrasive hoppiness that lingers into the finish - harsh.

Tap at the brewery - pours a headless dark ruby - looks like a flat glass of root beer - aroma is slighty musky saison yeast, berries, light chocolate - sweet and poorly attenuated - limp and lifeless in the mouth - sweet malt.extract and some peppery phenolics, followed by some estery notes - yea, this is probably the last time I’m coming to this brewery.

I’ve entered this as an english pale because it is way too.strong for a mild, but the malt character is distinctly english and this dominates the flavor - pale, sweet, but earthy english maltiness through (golden promise or marris) - a slight mineral note and a mildly honey-like finish - big meh over here.
