Description
In the beginning, in 2004, the Lupulus brewery was built to brew beers for the tavern next door. In 2007, the brewery decided to create a new beer, in kegs and in Champagne bottles. The brewers wanted to offer a traditional beer with its own unique flavour, using modern equipment. The region where the brewery is based gave the brewers the inspiration they were looking for. The brewery is housed in a magnificent old 19th century farm, a part of Ardennes heritage. The installation is based in the middle of surrounding green fields, beside a freshwater stream. The historical record is sketchy, but we know that wolves populated the Ardennes landscape in olden times. Some say that these wolf-packs came from Slovenia, where the best hops in the world are cultivated... True story? In any case, the wolf was behind the creation of a new beer: Lupulus. The name derives from the Latin name of the hop plant Humulus Lupulus, which means Small Humble Wolf.

33cl Fles van ONP5. Volledig alcoholvrij in tegenstelling tot de vorige Placebo-versie. Troebele, bleekgele kleur, zepige kraag. Citroen, mandarijn, fris-kruidig, licht menthol of eucalyptus-achtig, smaak is vrij dun, Spa Rood met citroenlimonade. Wel redelijk fris.

33cl bottle from AbeerVinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours pale gold, fairly hazy, with scarce white foam. Aroma is unattractive, recalling some juice. Body is average, with quite a carbonation. Taste is very moderately sweet. Final is on the dry side.

Вроде и есть все от бланша, но при этом какая то слишком дикая горечь на финише. Не понял как то.

Small yellow head over fully hazy foxy orange-amber beer. Almonds, watered down red fruitjuice, autumn leaves, skimmed milk. Tobacco in the mouth. Again hints at red fruit, red winterberries - as the kind not usually eaten, as sorbusberry or even cotoneaster...? Dry-out effect almost, medium bodied é best, very dry. Medium carbonation. Strange beer... I wonder who's the bimbo?

Draught Very good yellowish dense head on fully hazy orange-ochre beer. Fresh hops, some grains. Huge, persistent head seriously hampers nasal perception. Bitter, hoppy, with a sweet(er) malty finish, that has also a mounting bitter-almondy streak. Common to other Lupulus beers, the beer utterly hides its impressive ABV. Good carbonation, at least medium bodied. Dangerous and intriguing beer, certainly on draught.

5/XI/25 - on tap @ De Trollekelder (Gent), BB: n/a (2025-1087)

Pretty clear dark blond beer, small creamy dense yellowish to off-white head, unstable, falls down quickly, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: nice, a little dank, some tropical fruits, juicy, citrus notes, some caramel malts, good stuff! MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: nice, pretty malty start, some tropical fruits, juicy, hoppy, some papaya and mango, good bitterness. Aftertaste: gentle bitterness, caramel malts, some orange peel, fruity, hoppy finish, decent beer!
