Description
Lagabière was born in November 2012. Brothers Sébastien and Francis Laganière opened the doors of their brewery in the heart of Old St. Jean, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Initially offering only one of their beers and a few beers, the inventory has grown rapidly, offering only locally brewed products. With a capacity of 20 beers in service, the offer is very diversified. Each recipe is original and brewed with extreme rigor. Today, after more than sixty original recipes created, Lagabière also offers a range of imported beers, quality alcohols and a homemade food menu, incorporating as much beer as possible.

Hazy bright golden-yellow colour with a big frothy, bubbly off-white cap, good retention and some nice foamy patches of lacing. Very hoppy nose at first with grassy, bitter notes. Then, orange notes coming out to calm things down. The taste has more hoppiness, bitterness than most NEIPAs. Some decent dryness in the finish. Feels more like a West Coast IPA trying to be juicy. Still good though.

Pours a hazy light-golden colour with a big bubbly white top that lasts a long time and leaves soapy lacing residue. Mostly pineapple aromas from the hops. Same for taste - pineapples and a waxy background. It is juicy and really not bad for 3.8% ABV, but that hint of wax is kind of ruining it a bit for me (caprylic). Slight tart and thankfully enough zest to not have a sweet, fruity finish. Good to chug after cutting the grass - I guess when that time comes.

Golden colour, on the lighter side with a big frothy white cap, good retention and patches of big foam lacing. Aromas of mild sweet malts and even milder grassy hops. The grassy, darker hops show up a little more in the taste, which is weird for the style. Refreshing, crisp mouthfeel with just enough dryness. It is not bad, but I find the hops chosen in here for a Pils is off-the-game. Where are the Saaz hops and spiciness that rules this style ?

Pours a slight hazy copper colour with a big creamy-frothy light mocha-coloured head with great retention and some creamy streaks of lacing left. Aromas of roasted malts with notes of chocolate, liquorice, caramel, grassy hops and toasted barley. The taste shows the malts being watered-down, as the hops are pretty present... all the way. Gets quite bitter in the finish, but not too dry. A very hoppy brown ale with not too much toastiness - as the name says.

Hazy golden colour with a frothy white cap, good retention leaving soapy spots. Aromas of lemon zest, orange juices and hint of coconut, wax. Juicy mouthfeel with a little dryness, but not excessive. The taste shows a lot of the citrus juices and peel. Light spiciness in the flavours that add a nice touch. One of these experimental hops shows a tad of waxiness, but the rest works well with it.

Hazy golden colour with warm cap, leaving some good soapy lacing. Citrus aromas of mostly oranges, pretty mild overall with some hints of grassiness. I find the taste is fairly mild as well, with just enough bitterness, spiciness and bite in the end to salvage this. Dry, boozy mouthfeel. Citrusy, grassy and juicy - good, but just a little too mild overall for a 7% ABV.

O: 5.313 V: 3.25 G: 4.1 B: 4.5 O: 11.45 T: 28.613
