Lightly hazy, a pale gold, large head, pretty thick, stick, long retention. Nose is fruity (something tropical?), soured funk, cheese, spice, dough. A solventy or acetone element hits the nose at first sip, carries into the flavor but is replaced by a soft tartness, finish crisp and semi-dry. OK so I just read the label and read up on jabuticaba, learning it is a tropical grape-like fruit. I guess there could be something vaguely vinous about the flavor but that weird nose is pretty unique, though vaguely reminiscent of something that I can’t quite pin down, except something like a new fiberglass bass boat - but that’s not the fruity part, but the solventy part.

With a RateBeer Best stick on the neck! Hazy golden, thick creamy head. Funky nose, soured malt, doughy and yeasty, a little cheese, some honey. Bright and strongly soured, whoa. Somewhat metallic or bloody tasting (weird). Some kind of vegetal thing going on. This is new ground for me. There’s a fruitiness there, I guess it’s the acerola, I’ve never had them. The sourness is more lactic than acetic, but also citrus-sour too. Excellent body and carbonation level.

Can, don’t remember if it was dated, drunk at Doc Ponds on 5/25/17.
Clear, amber-rose-gold with a medium-sized, off-white head that sits at cover.
Watermelon juice is quite strong in the nose, though there’s nothing artificial about it, nor does it give sugary/syrupy impressions. Light honey and vanilla-like malt notes join with it and there’s a moderately fruity ester character. Light earthiness and a bit of leathery acid from the hibiscus. Clean with some slight phenolic character from the watermelon juice fermentation and a bit of rustic character overall from the interplay of melon, hibiscus and yeast.
Soft, light, dry, slightly watery as expected with a lovely melon flesh/juice character mixing with mild hibiscus that contributes light acidity. Honey-like malts fill the finish and interesting esters/phenols and more acidity lingers lightly on the finish. Mild, fairly engaging carbonation. Certainly a very-maligned style (light fruited golden ale) but this was clean, authentic-tasting and didn’t forget the malt. About as good as you’re going to get here.
