Bottle @ home. Clear dark orange golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, yeast quite heavily, orangepeel, tart and some herbal notes. Body is decent, carbonation is annoyingly high. Bleh. Not good imo.

Bruin bier zonder schuim.

Another barrel experiment in this series, again many thanks to tderoeck for sharing. Aged on 'Slyrs' barrels - apparently a Bavarian (!) single malt whisky brand... Very fierce gusher, streaming out of the bottle neck - but why am I not surprised… Cobweb-lacing, thick, very coarse and egg-white, irregular and ragged 'gusher head' over a misty orange blonde beer with warm peachy-rosy hue. Aroma of canned peaches, honey liqueur, powder sugar, banana mush, sweet cherry tomatoes, vanilla-like oak, whisky, 'jenever', wet hay, cooked carrots, coriander seed, soggy sandwiches. Sweet onset with a sourish edge, banana, peach and pineapple, lots of residual honeyish sugariness over a rounded, fluffy, fizzily carbonated bready malt sweet body; very boozy finish, whisky-like and heating but astringent as well, lots of lingering sugary sweetness and bready yeastiness but a bit too restrained in woody tannins. Everybody wants to do barrel aging these days and that automatically leads to less inspired or less well executed examples - and that is the case here too: if Zingende Blondine is a suitable beer for this treatment to begin with, something I am not even convinced of, then it should have benefited from a much more thorough aging process. Somewhat clumsy and to me less successful than the wine barrel aged version, with too much wry booziness in the finish.

The wine barrel aged edition in this serious of Singing Blonde variations, thanks tderoeck for sharing. Obviously a gusher - this is, after all, Gaverhopke we're talking about… Irregularly lacing, medium thick, papery, off-white head, hazy warm orange robe with rosy-peachy hue. Aroma of sweet grapes and dessert wine, vanilla-ish oak, canned peaches, 'jenever', banana mush, white port, stewed carrots, tomato peel, tulips, glue, orange flesh. Sweet onset, very fruity, banana and sweet grapes galore, peaches, pear, sourish accent, medium carbonation; smooth, full, bit resinous mouthfeel, bready, honeyish and lightly caramelly malt sweet middle with lots of lingering esters. More wine character in the finish, sweet like white port or dessert wine, with a strong, almost brandy-like alcohol effect and lots of lingering sweetness; spicy and softly herbal hop bitterish note and some woody tannins add some complexity but the booziness dominates. Too sweet and boozy for me personally, lacks subtlety and finesse yet still better than expected in view of where it comes from.

At some random bar during Gentse Feesten. Medium thick, egg-white, stable, lightly lacing head leaving thick islands over a misty, warm peach blonde beer. Aroma of banana bread, potato juice, quite outspoken DMS (hate it!), white bread dough, coriander seed, cold camomile tea, pineapple, young 'jenever', cooked turnip. Sweetish onset with sourish touch, residual white candi sugar, some banana ester, peach, pear, fizzy carbonation; full, smooth, bready middle with honeyish sweet edges. Floral finish in the hoppy sense of the word, chrysanthemum hardly noticeable, spicy coriander note, starchy yeasty accent, minimal 'Belgian tripel' hoppiness and some warming alcohol in the end. I am bored to death with this but at least it didn't gush so technically an improvement for Gaverhopke, to be honest.

Bottle at Craft CG share thanks to LKS. It pours cloudy reddish - brown with a small beige head. The aroma is rich, oily, malt-driven, musty, oxidised, Oxo cubes, bisto and wet cardboard. The taste is tart, tangy, fruity, meaty malts, old musty vibes, oxidised character throughout, bisto, sugars and berry skin. Medium body and fine carbonation. Meaty and tangy.... So not what I was hoping for from a quad. Totally bollocksed.
