Thx voor delen Benzai. Ongebalanceerde zoete meuk.

Bottle at home. Huge insane fucking GUSHER!! Hazy amber color with unidentified floating objects in there. Ok, identified, yeast of course. Decent sized beige head (eventually). Smell and taste malts, sweetness, liquor, sweetish boozy, nose is very barleywine-ish. Overall the flavor isn't so bad, but the explosion nearly killed my laptop. Mwah in the end.

I Obviously aged sample /I No head after a couple of seconds; fully clear purplish-brown beer. Red fruit in booze, floral notes, whisky. More bitter impression in the mouth, drier; fruity notes, dried fruit as figs. Whisky is obvious. Finish is fruity sweet, going into dried apricot. Slick, lean, oily texture, warming. Surprising!! One of the best Gaverhopke tries ever. I Thx to Stef! /I

Bottle shared in London - picked up in Belgium. Best before September 2012, drank in mid 2018. Pours mostly clear ruby with a small, creamy head. The nose holds tangy dried fruits, sweat, bread. Medium sweet flavour, certainly a bit oxidised, with more tangy berry character, alcohol, brown bread. Warming finish, with notes of leathery berries, more alcohol and bready malts. Novel!

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy dark brown with a lasting, big, slowly thinning, foamy, beige head. Aroma of pear syrup, candied plum, soy milk, green apple (faint acetaldehyde), nutmeg, marzipan & almond, raisin, gingerbread, liqueur. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, hints of candied plum, dried banana & sweet licorice, caramelly too, whilst a 'young' note of green apple pops up, next to some pear syup, rendering it a bit phenolic and introducing a medium spicy bitterness, fit for balance, with nutmeg & gingerbread, herbal accent, and constant dark & dried fruits in the back. Dryish, herbal, bit peppery hoppy finish, lingering dough, gingerbread, some caramel, and a good dash of warming brandy-, almost amaretto-like alcohol, heating up the throat effectively. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. Good, full, tasty brew, 'cleaner' than expected; easily one of Gaverhopke's best...

Bottle from Bierboom, Bruges. Probably expired but no BB date. Gusher! Pours hazy ochre/orange with a lasting, big, foamy, white head; some lacing; little sediment. Aroma of iron, sourdough, yeast, overripe, almost mouldy apple & orange, lemon zest, white bread, vague soap & spoiled yoghurt. Taste is light fruity sweet, notes of overripe orange & green apple, yeasty & juniper-like sour, supported by a weak bready malty base; light spicy bitter middle has coriander, clove & pepper, touch of honey & something vaguely soapy & yoghurty. Dryish, grassy hoppy finish, lingering apple, spices, yeast. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Unusual 'winter beer' to say the least, and not very enjoyable at that.
