donker robijn kleurig, ondoorzichtig met minimale kleverige witte kraag. aroma van suiker, caramel, mout en donkere fruiten. smaken zijn redelijk suikerzoet, matig bitter, lichte banaan, pruim, rozijn, caramel, stevig kruidig, gember, medium body, vrij dun van textuur, adronk bitter en hoog co2, al met al iets té bitter. ben er niet weg van --- Beer merged from original tick of Pr??aris Quadrupel on 23 May 2018 at 16:55 - Score: 7

Bottle at Delirium Cafe, pours a deep dark brown with a small amber tinge and a medium tan head. Aroma brings out lots of toffee and brown sugar, and some cocoa and coffee grounds further back. Flavour is quite burnt, with burnt coffee grounds, with toffee and burnt sugar. This is the most burnt quad I've had. Quite complex nevertheless, but a little difficult to drink. Not great.

37.5cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Tderoeck. BB 26/03/2017. Bottle #2109. Is it BA or not? where is the wood? Couleur cuivrée foncée, col épais crémeux blanc cassé. Arôme est simplement centré sur le tourbé avec un léger résiduel doux sucré. Palais est ici aussi fortement centré sur le tourbé. Soit on aime ou pas, question d’habitude. Note malt caramel assez doux, résiduel sucre brun avec pas franchement de note boisée. Rappelle bcp le ’liquid smoke’. Pas mauvaise, mais très monodimensionnelle tellement le ’peat’ domine.

330ml bottle from T Brugs Beer, Bruges. Take-out & drunk at home in the garden in Ford, Shropshire. Pours black with cream head. Sweet molasses on the nose, continues to the taste with light chocolate as it warms and some dried fruits. Very pleasant Quad.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, deep brown colour with a beige and firm medium-sized foamy head. Nutty dark malty aroma with notes of dried fruits, plums, leather, yeasty spices and a tinge of brown sugar, accompanied by a mildly vinous sourness. Moderately sweet and delicately bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a calm, well-carbonated mouthfeel. Slightly roasted malty aroma with notes of caramel, dried fruits, chocolate, mocha and slightly liqueur-like sugary sweetness, accompanied by a mildly roasty bitterness towards the lasting and alcohol-warming finish. Very nice and not too fat. 22.V.14

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, amber colour with a loose and slightly tanned foamy head. Delicately bready cara-malty nose with resiny and slightly fruity hoppy notes, combined with a mildly spicy Belgian yeasty touch. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Bready cara-malt with resiny and citric, grapefruity hops; moderately lasting hops accented finish with present malty flavours and yeasty spice. 20.V.14

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a big and slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty, delicately bready malty and slightly citric and floral, but most of all herbal hoppy aroma. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Mildly malty base by Belgium standards with present hoppy notes, including fruity, slightly floral and herbal flavours; quite lingering hoppy and mildly malty finish. Likeable and sessionable Saison. 20.V.14

Little cloudy dark purple to brown beer, huge aery beige fluffy head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very very peated, bit sweet, dusty, caramel, sugary. MF: ok carbon, very lively for a barrel aged beer, I think. Medium body. Taste: bit sweet, fruity touch, raisins, then very peated, some sweet caramel, banana, sugary. Aftertaste: peated, pretty bitter, medicinal touch, some banana peel, metallic touch, sweet caramel as well.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Hazy yellow colour, white foam. Refreshing beer, notes of citrus with orange peel and some spices (coriander). Rather thin. Good example of the style, not my favourite style.
