Description
For years we brewed beers in our basement when we read an article in October 2010 about the Brouwland beer competition. We decided to risk our chances and sent our version of a Trappist beer, a dark beer, full malt, of 10%.In March 2011 we were informed that we were selected for the final. Beginning in April 2011 was ultimately the final. The seven finalist beers were tasted by beer connoisseurs, Zythologists Rijckers Anne and Yannick De Cocteau and some Belgian brew masters like Paul Arnott (Dubuisson), and Jean-Marie De Rock (Orval). The first beers were tasted and judged one for one, much was noted. Mutually there was not much talk together ,until they started our beer (the final seven beers were tasted in order of alcohol). All jurors began to talk to each other and two of them even gave us a thumbs up. Then, we knew it was good. After fifteen minutes of deliberations they announced the winner … Vliegend Paard Brouwers from Oedelem with their Préaris Quadrupel.

Best ok, maar dikke verliespunten op de nasmaak. Da's niet al te best

Bottle. Color: Clear golden, off-white head. Aroma: Smoke, herbal, malty. Taste: Medium sweet malty, herbal, smoke. Bittery palate at finish. Dry mouthfeel. The Lapsang souchong (dark smoked tea) is clearly present and combines well with the malty blond beer. Full body, under average carbonation. Pretty nice.

Flaska från Pilgrim, tack! Backlog. Maffig, om än elegant, quad med kandiaocker, torkad frukt och lite kryddiga inslag som möts upp av fin fatkaraktär och lätt Cognacs-ton.

330ml bottle from Struise Brewery shop Bruges. Pours pink with a light mist, large bubble bath head. Aroma has lightly sweet raapberries. Taste is crisp with a light lactic sour character, spritzy carbonation, light raspberry presence. Could do with more fruit really, a touch thin.

Bottle from Firefly, Vancouver
Brown color. The base Strong Ale is bold and malty, caramel, quite good; the coffee is not too strong, wisely blended.
I'm not a fan, but it's well done.

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A hazy yellow beer with a huge most good lasting white head. Aroma of grapefruit juice, lemon, mild tart fruits. Taste of mild sweet apples, grapes, lemon, citrus, belgian yeast.

Small to medium white head; (cold)hazy yellow beer. Creamy nose, bit fruity, gassy, (fruit)blossoms, hints @ honey, unripe strawberries.Bitterish-herbal. Not much fruit, unless a bit fruitacids without much real sour - even a bit maltsweetness. Limesquash; can't find the pomegranates, however. Refreshing, delicate; light body; very good carbonation. Nice, pity the pomegranate is not more outspoken. Were they red enough? 6/4/7/3/14
