Description
six°north was established in 2013. The concept was born in Belgium when founder Robert Lindsay fell in love with the country’s beer culture and tradition. He soon returned to north east Scotland to start brewing his own beers, six°north of Brussels. We make modern, artisanal beers that are driven by Belgian brewing tradition and inspired by modern brewing practices.

Our beers are unfiltered and carbonated naturally through secondary fermentation. We brew classic Belgian inspired beers, as well as modern, hop-forward styles. We also release a number of collaboration beers each year with other breweries.

Can from Beer52. Clear amber with small white head. Aroma of malts, pine, citrus zest; a bit standard old style perhaps? Taste confirms its old style at least, big pine, resin and bitter notes from the off. However there are softer caramel, orange and mango in the background so its not one noted or astringent. Not my favourite style of IPA but this one has its merits.

330ml bottle from Honest Brew. Look - dark brown, massive beige fluffy head, took 10 minutes to settle. Ain't no one got time for that! Aroma - lightly roasted, sweet malts, nuts, spice, dried fruits. Nice. Taste - starts malty, then quite fruity and sweet, finishing with a long bitterness combined with some fruit tang and toasty malts. Maybe a touch of spice but this element does get a bit lost. Palate - medium body and a high natural carbonation which leads to somewhere between smooth and frothy on the palate. Maybe I've not yet had enough Belgium style beers to comment but I'm not convinced by it. A mixed bag but some good flavours.

Can, gift from secret Santa. Clear amber body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of oak, pine and honey. Flavour of raisin, brioche and rust. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. This is really interesting and although I’m it a huge fan of barrel-aged beers, this comes together very well.

Nearly opaque, dark brown with a very thin head. Nose is boozy with dried fruit and a little of the wood. Flavour has caramel, dried fruit, toffee, vanilla, wood, a little boozy warmth and a whack of warming spice. Rich, smooth and perfect for a chill autumn evening.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 03/09/24. Clear golden amber topped with an off white cap that thins to the edge. Nose is stewed fruits, herb, dark malts, rum cask, oak, light booze, spice. Taste comprises toffee, spice, herb, caramelised sugars, dates, fruit cake, rum kiss. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. If there was a guide as to how to pimp a tripel ... this is fucken it!

Can. Almost clear burnished gold beer short lived bubbly pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malts, a good light creamy sweetness. Lovely crystallised fruits, rich. The rum barrelling is the sweetest I can recall. Very obvious vanilla into a modest but pleasing fruity rum that goes very well with the crystallised fruits. Smooth finish. 6DN are doing good things with barrells and have commanded my attention recently. More please!

On tap at Marine Hotel in Stonehaven - cloudy purple body, bright lilac head. Dry but not lip puckering blackcurrant sharpness, easier going than most wild ones, but cleansing nonetheless.
