Bottle @ The Caley
Deep amber, clear, think dense white head that dissipates, good lacing
Aroma - caramel malts, yeast, candy sugar, very soft citrus, bit of odd mustiness
Taste - Fairly malty - caramel malts, soft bitter citrus hops, yeasty, some tangy zest, candy sugar, rich flavour, bit of orange and lemon in there, quite complex subtle flavour, not over hoppy, well blended
Palate - medium carb, medium to full body, very smooth, soft mouthfeel. Finish as main flavour, bit dry, lingering bitter but nowhere near as much as some of the other swb beers.
Overall - Bit too easy to drink, not the best DIPA and not over hoppy, but I did like it

Takeaway bottle from Mr Lawrence’s WIne Bar, Brockley. Black pour with a beige head. Blackberries, dark fruits and chocolate aromas. Sharp flavours of berries, grapefruit and a little chocolate. Sharp, bitter finish. Tasty.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence’s Wine Bar (damned off licence was closed!). Dark brown pour with a light tan head. Smoke, chocolate, vanilla and malt aroma. Chocolate and coffee flavour. Throat warmer. Dry finish. Nice.

33cl bottle from Bottle Shop, Canterbury. Black beer with thick beige head. Piney hoppy aroma. Yes like Radox bath salts. Malts are a bit bizarre with the Rye. Spicy, but bit of burnt something, burnt molasses? Not sure where the Belgian bit of this comes in. Double black as there is certainly dark malts here, but not big malts. Hoppy finish. Some bitterness. Bit strange, not bad, but not sure all the different flavours make a harmonious beer. Tasty though. Prunes on aroma. Yes stewed prunes spring to mind. Bit odd. Not something I would choose to drink again.

Cask@Reading Beer Festival 2012. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral and a bit eggy. Flavour is citrus, mild wood, some citrus as well as mild maltyness.

Cask@Reading Beer Festival 2012. Goldeny amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is floral and fruity hops with some mild zesty notes as well. Flavour is the same with some mild bready and crystal malty notes. Nice balance.

On tap @ Duke’s Corner, Dundee. Pours amber with a decent head. The nose has grapefruit and actually a hint of pineapple from the yeast I think. The taste is absolutely grapefruit central maybe with a hint of passion fruit. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a clean finish. Overall, good beer!

Pigs Ear. Hazy gold beer. Good suddy head. Light dry palate. Grapefruit grassy bitter hops with a sharp edge. Repressed sweet pineapple. Definite smoky note throughout. A little apple as well. Very dry finish and a lingering bitter aftertaste. Too dry and too smoky.
