Keg at Euston Tap, London. A hazy copper coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. A musty, malty, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes malty, bitter, slightly sweet, some tropical fruit, grapefruit in there, a bit musty. A little unbalanced but actually it’s not bad.

Dark reddish amber, clear, nice white head that dissipates
Aroma - Very complex and rather strange - fruity, soft herbs, light medicinal, soft spices, hard to describe
Taste - soft fruity malts, hint of lemon, spicy , peppery, caramel malts, aromatic, it’s really weird - some alcohol as well, complex - perhaps the aroma is better than the taste
Palate - smooth, spicy aromatic palate. soft bitterness. Finish as main flavour, again very complex, aromatic soft peppery medicinal tail.
Overall - It went down well initially but got harder to drink as it’s so unusual - it’s a challenging complex beer and quite original.

Jet black, creamy tan head with some lacing
Aroma - Smooth good quality coffee aroma, not astringent, mellow coffee, soft espresso, dark roasted malts
Taste - lots of smooth coffee, really nicely done and mellow, soft roasted malts, some chocolate malts. Not particularly complex but the flavour is really good for a coffee stout.
Palate - soft carb, medium body, smooth silky texture. Finish as main flavour, smooth dark malts.
Overall - It’s a coffee stout and it does the job really well - even people who hate coffee might like this. I have tried the bottled version in the past - it really works better on cask.

Tap at The Southern ... Deep red ... thin white head ... juicy pineapple and peach ... licorice .. zezty fruit nose ... this really is a rich inense fruit nose ... soft fruits ... cardamon and light spice front ... juicy fruits ... big berry tones ... light licorice .... soft juicy fruits ... light bitterness ... Very fruity and interesting ... but its the light Cardamon and licorice root that realy makes this the special

Keg at the Craft. ’American Wheat IPA’. Cloudy orange beer, little off white head. Smooth palate with sharp fine carbonation. A little fresh orange is rapidly swamped by bitter orange peel. A streak of lemon in there. A little creamy malt underneath. Not particularly wheat beer like! Finishes smooth. Nice beer - does it’s St Clemens thing very well, but would need more complexity to reach the higher echelons.

330 ml bought @ The Bottle Shop Canterbury. Pours hazy brownish orange with a small creamy offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace. Smell is sweet and spicy hoppy with caramel, resinous wood, butterscotch, earthy tobacco, grapefruit juice, orange peal, lemon peal, wet leaves, gooseberries, onions, bread and subtle hints of rotten eggs. Taste is sweet, bitter and spicy with gooseberries, chives, tobacco, wet leaves, lemon balm, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, compost, fresh grass, moss, dill, current leaves and hints of cape gooseberries and wet soil. Mouthfeel is soft, oily bitter and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with fresh grass, pine, old bread, tobacco, onions, moss and currant leaves. Interesting...

33cl bottle from The Bottle Shop, Canterbury. Hazy deep copper lasting beige head. Oh dear, diacetyl. Yep lots of diacetyl to start with and then good hops. But there is so much butter in this its difficult to get a read on this beer. It will disappear so will buy a bottle again in a few weeks to see if it has disappeared. Rest of beer is fine.

Cask at Ealing beer festival 2012. A red/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus aroma. Tastes hoppy, fruity, grapefruit, grapes, bitter, dry. Incredibly moreish.
