Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/19/2016. Pours brown-black with a medium thick foamy beige head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, coffee and hops. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, bittersweet coffee and fruity hops. The finish is malty up front with a mild hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good hoppy Stout overall.

Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/19/2016. Clear dark amber color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily to a dense film. Sticky short strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, fruit and hops. Light to medium body with flavors of roast malt, rye bread, fruit and earthy hops. The finish is malty with a touch of spicy rye. Above average overall.

Taster at the brewery - man, these guys do a good job with this style - dark ruby, nearly black - very smooth, well-masked alcohol - bright notes of berry and a vibrant but not abrasive acidity - some chocolate-covered cherry - light spiciness - some licorice and cinnamon in the finish - not quite as good as Beer Drinks You, but damn close.

Taster at the brewery - mostly black - thick tan lace - assertive American style stout, with strong roast, dark chocolate, and woody bitterness, arriving at spicy qualities at the end (cinnamon, pepper) - the roast is just slightly abrasive, but this is decent.

Taster at the brewery - pours a dark ruby, nearly black - has a fairly smooth and creamy texture, but suffers from a strong acidity that sometimes plagues black lagers - this is amplified a bit by the coffee addition - aside from that, though, there are some good things happening - some berry, vanilla, mineral, light bitterness - finish is s bit too sharply acidic and bitter (bitter coffee).

4 ounce at the brewery - well, this is sure an American barley wine punch in the mouth - granted, it certainly is good for what it is - heft malt character that isn’t sticky - assertive hop character - lots of grapefruit and pine - notes of strawberry, some sherry - it’s good, and I can see how someone would love this if deeply into this kind of beer.

10 ounce at the brewery - dark ruby pour, nearly black - nose has some chocolate, but also some brighter notes of berry - but the flavor and mouthfeel is where it really shines - creamy, full texture - sweet, but with a balancing acidity, neither of which dominate - flavored of tart cherry (pits and all), light berry, chocolate, vanilla, some espresso - this is really well executed - nice balance, lovely texture - nice tart earthy complexities in what can become a one dimensional and overly sweet style.

10 ounce at the brewery - clear and lively pour, with a frothy, lasting head - a clean and fairly well-executed pils - clean, medium sweet pils malt, with a moderate mineral bite appearing before a crisp, medium-dry finish - I’m not the biggest fan of the hop profile - at least the hallertau blanc are the most prominent, but the other hops add more of a citric character that I typically do not want in my pils - overall, though, it is a solid and enjoyable American craft lager.

10 ounce at the brewery - saison with sage and Tasmanian pepperberry - hazy gold - nose has moderate sage, spicy and earthy phenolics, some straw and melon - flavor is a little sweet up front, but also heavy on the sage - things balance out a bit through the middle, with some white pepper and herbal/grassy character - finish is moderately spicy - still overall a bit too sweet and too heavy on the sage.

Tulip at the brewery - lightly hazy gold with a thick, frothy head - Supposedly brewed with two lacto cultures, and to its credit, There is a mild buggy complexity - moderate tartness and some softy wheaty tang, ending with light lemongrass and a touch of an herbal character - I appreciate the fact that it is not aggressively sour and as it warms there is some mild pineapple and the lacto presence goes up a notch - it’s decent.
