Thanks to Suttree for this one. This starts off with a reserved light tan head over a deep brown beer with lots of ruby where the light penetrates. Dark caramel aroma. The flavor is full of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla; delivered smooth and filling. Decent brown ale.

Draft. Golden-orange with a nice white head. orange, malt, wheat, and spice all combining in the aroma. Fruity flavor (curracao) fades to grassy with some wheat. Easy to drink.

12 oz. bottle, 7/26/07 Finally got a good sample I can rate from. A yellow pour, slightly hazy with a thin head but rings of bubbles clinging to the glass. Once the head goes, I see a robust gold of Belgian pilsener malt. The taste hits equal proportions of light bready malts and spicy orange. No notable hops, but just enough bitterness to keep the malts in check. Not very complex, but I ascribe that to the limitations of bottling an unfiltered beer. Very little yeast at the bottom, just enough to kick up a little haze. "Hard" carbonation of a Belgian dubbel. Refreshing beer for the end of a hot summer day. Bottled, re-rated 8/27/05. (2.3 of 5.0) I’ve had a small sampler of a better bottle since the taste below, so I can raise my opinion from the previous 1.9. Taste is a bit light and dry for a Belgian, or maybe I can’t get past the surfer boy graphics (your label is part of the presentation, after all. But I keep saying, that won’t stop me from trying it again if I have a chance.
Original rating: 1.9 of 5.0. Sorry, but when I popped the cap, I got a big whiff of vomit. The beer seems to have spoiled, probably because I found it at a bar in Elkhart, IN, where it probably had no business being. As I worked my way further down, thinking "Maybe once it’s breathed, it might get better," it did get a little better. But I found nothing that said this was close to a wit. I am willing to try it if I’m ever out on the coast.
After I posted this review, Falconseye8 beermailed me to assure that the beer is generally better than the one I had. Fair enough. Let me reiterate that in all likelihood this bottle was too old and too far from home.

Bottle Pours a clear but dark brown with a modest sized creamy light tan head. Thick lacing as well. Aroma is fairly sweet nutty roasted. Flavors are roasted hazelnuts and some dark roasted flavors. Body is not very heavy and finish is quick and clean. Not much hops and easy to frink. Nice

Pour is a very cloudy orange with a big white head. Aroma is slightly weak but there are hops present. Flavor is a very dry hop with a nice malt backbone. Probably more malts than your usual IPA but it makes this very interisting. Deffinatly worth a try.

May 2003 bottled consumed February 2005. Nearing it’s two year mark, should be interesting. Upon opening, a fabulously aromatic roasted barley and chocolate malt meets the nose. Further notes of black malt, light coffee beans, a touch of floral hops and some sour/sharp lactic notes. Oddly, there were also some notes of ethanol. Deep, opaque black, with dark brown edges and a thick, creamy dark tan head. Flavor begins with light lactic notes, roast, chocolate and hints of hops. Texture is a bit thin at first, not helped by the stiff, bubbly carbonation. But as it breathes, the carbonation dies off quickly and a more rounded, if somewhat thin body is apparent. Light notes of milk chocolate on the finish, a deep roast and plenty of smooth, nutty, cream-like oats flavor. The oats really come on strong in the end, bringing out a more even, smooth texture. Oats really seem to do alot for the mouthfeel of a beer. Impressed that you can pick out all of the malts in this quite clearly, yet it does not seem disjointed. A touch too much astringency up front, with some alcohol notes and a bit thinner than I would like, but the malt profile is wonderful and the hops are not dominant. 2004 offering. Paid $1.49 for a 12-oz single at Whole Foods in Charlottesville, VA. Deep brown with a small head. Smells dusty... yea, dusty... with a hint of toffee. Flavor is burnt something... nothing special here. Not too malty, which is nice, but... ordinary.

Red orange ale with a thicj orangey head. Resinous hops and citrus in aroma, very classic and floral. Smooth and generous hops well balanced by malts. Body is thinner still a good IPA.

Tap @ The Yardhouse Pasadena, CA Raspberry nose. Quite bron, low head. Earthy and bandaid notes on top of fruit, some nuts as well. Medium body, soft mouthfeel.
