Growler, 11C. Dark brown with a pale beige head that laces well and never disappears. Aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, bread, peppery oak. 7+ Silky. Sweet with chocolate, bread, stewed fruit, grass, oak. The wood is not excessive but is not terribly well integrated into the palate - it rather jumps out at the end. Perhaps that would mellow in the bottle after a while. Drinks its weight but there is no integrated alcohol.

Cellar clean out session Pt Deux. Light haze on this orange - amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Light malts, sweetish. Trace of grain. Hops are a reasonable orange and orange peel. Mild hop spice. Light semi dry finish. Very serviceable APA.

Light haze on this deep amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy, mildly dry and has good fine carbonation. Smooth creamy malts, caramel, mild to medium sweetness. Fair dose of hop spice. Marmalade. Little fresh juicy orange and touches of hop skunk and pine. Smooth finish leaves a long hop spicy linger. Juicy and very drinkable.

330ml bottle. Aroma hits hard with orange and lime notes. Taste is a bit more restrained, with the hop notes riding on a very refreshing wave.

Small growler13C. Very dark brown with an inch of light tan head that never quite disappears. Aroma of wild figs, not-quite-dry tobacco, prunes, soil. There is a whiff of booze, as much Port as whiskey. .Full bodied but silky rather than syrupy. Taste is sweet and has lots of dark dried fruit, earth, a little mildly astringent roasted malt (not that it’s stouty at all, it’s very much the very big old ale type). Some licorice and spices with the finishing bitterness that curtails the sweetness well. After a while it becomes clearer that the spices are from rye. Suspect this would be rather less good were the bitterness to fade much but it’s good enough to be tempted to try keeping a bottle for a while. Very good.
