Thanks to tderoeck, Bierridder_S & Rubin77. Sampled bottled @ Brugs Bier Festival 2018. Golden, near clear, creamy white head. Nose is pain, weak white wine, stale plastic, sugar,… Taste is strange plastic, white wine, chemical, glue, paint heavy strange mess, weir d barrel aging, messy carbonation, not for me with minor pleasant sweeter white wine elements.

At Brugs Bierfestival, 3 February 2018. Cheers to Anke, Ian, Kevin & Jerre!

Hazy dark brown with a big, frothy, beige head. Aroma of spices (clove), cinnamon, dough, (roasted) malt, mocha, caramel, some nuts. Tastes light caramel-like sweet and light to medium spicy bitter, all very subtle; shortish, hoppy/roasted finish. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Could have used a bit more punch, good though.

Clear blond to orange beer, creamy dense white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: yeast, floral, bit sourish, funky, soapy impression. MF: very lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bitter touch, tannins, wood notes, bit fruity, yeast, unpleasant. Aftertaste: bitter, herbal and spicy, yeast, tannins, soapy, bit fruity. This isn't exactly what I would call a success...

Tripel aged on Genoelselderen barrels (the best known Belgian wine brand), at Toogoloog in Middelkerke. Rocky and very thick, papery lacing, stable, snow white head, hazy peach-hued golden blonde robe. Aroma of indeed sweet white wine, ripe banana, yoghurt, cream, honey, gooseberry jam, glazed pear, butter, pineapple, sweetbread, waffles, cooked cauliflower. Sweetish onset, white grape, banana and pineapple, sourish green apple note, fizzy carbonation but not over the top, supple and slick, lean body. Sweetish cereally middle, bready edges, under a growing sweet white wine factor, very grapey, a tad tart in the end but less so than expected (and hoped), creamy with subtle tannic wood accents and floral hop bitter notes. Yellow plum, white grape and gooseberry fruit impressions linger. Could have been less subtle in the wood / wine aspect for me, but generally speaking an interesting experiment and pleasant apéritif beer, in any case more interesting than Walk On The Wild Side which we had next to this one.

Bourbon barrel aged dubbel, bottle at Toogoloog in Middelkerke shared by Goedele. Very thick, frothy, coarse but dense, eggshell-white, rocky and stable, over a misty ruddy bronze beer with ochre-ish tinge. Aroma of caramel, dried plums, honey, stewed pear, butterscotch candy, wet straw, chestnuts, cloves, but bourbon and / or wood remains (too) subtle. Sweet onset, sourish note of blue grape, banana, blackberries, softish carbonation, supple and soft, but somewhat thinnish mouthfeel. Lean and resinous caramelly malt sweetness, bready edges, relatively thin-bodied and simple finish for a BBA beer, some notes of warming, sweet bourbon indeed but low in tannic woodiness which really might have lifted up an otherwise simplistic Belgian dubbel. Some tea-ish herbal hop aspects but the caramel maltiness lingers. Decent Belgian ale, in all, but I expected more.
