Bottled. Hazy pale amber. Honey aroma. Sweet with some butterscoth and syrupy almond. Rich soft maltsleads to a grassy finish. Flavourful, but the sweetness overpowers a lot of the good stuff beneath.

Critical pine and lemonpeel aroma. Cloudy orange colour, creamy low head. Overdose of hops - pine, lemon, wooden dry edge in the end. Grassy burps follow. Dry hop finish. Medium to light body. I would welcome slightly more balance to the body.

Plenty of spices in the aroma (chili pepper, 5 spices and lemonpeel). Some lactic sourness Cloudy yellow no head. Weird flavors Meaty veggies, fruit, yeast, dirt very slight burn retronasal. Hides alcohol very well - surprisingly light body. Balance is off I think.

Deep red body with abundant, rather nasty-looking floaties, giving the appearance of a violent (but productive) trip to the porcelain god. Medium light tan head. Sour, musty fruit aroma with chocolate, spices (perhaps cinnamon?), toffee and lots of bready yeast. The flavor was dominated by dark fruit and not-so-hidden alcohol, bready yeast flavors, toast and maybe a touch of apple. Musty and rather sour, slightly sulfuric. Not the prettiest beer around but it did get the job done.

Hazy blonde coloured body with a thinnish white head. Aroma of nice coriander seed, banana, bubble gum, and some yeast. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong yeastiness with a good sweetness and subtle hopiness on the tail-end. Aftertaste shows a lot of characterisitics ranging from coriander seed freshness to dry alcohol flavours. Overall, a nice beer and a truly great treat (even at $20) in Washington. I sampled this with great friend Phil (haddon90) at RFD in Washington, D.C. on 06-November-2004.

Very dark brown; a little bit of whisky, coffee, toast, roasted malt in the aroma. Palate is sweet, with whisky, lots of lasting maltiness, toffee, vanilla. Complex, interesting beer.

Dark mahogany color with a very thin light tan head that dissipated quickly. The aroma is luxurious malt, smoke, rum and butterscotch. Rich body with full flavors of smoked malt, floral hops, caramel, chocolate and roasted nuts. Amazing. The finish is creamy and smooth, with sweet malt and an alcohol pop. Right up there with any of the best Scotch Ales out there.

#300 750Bottle Pours a deep black with a very nice DARK tan head that leaves thick heavy lacing. Aroma is a terrific blend of Coffee, molassas, chocolate and dark roasted malts. Flavor is mostly of the Espresso, and then less of the cohocolate. Very smokey as well and a noticeable alcohol taste. Feel is very smooth and silky. Carbonation is quite lively, but fine and soft at the same time. Yes, quite strong dark smoke and coffee flavors as I continue to sip it. Aftertaste is more mellow than I expected and short lived. A Brew worthy of the top 10 and a great milestone rating. Thanks to Footbalm for this one.

Pitch black in colour, completely opaque with no head at all. Some brown bubbles-but thats all. Aroma of coffee, caramel, toffee, roasted malt, chocolate (66% cacao), figs and some nuts. A great aroma, but thats what I’d expect! Full-bodied; Sweet full chocolate flavour with some pungent coffee bitterness. Amazing how it rolls right off though-no offensive flavours at all!! Sweet, then alcoholic then roasty. A great aftertaste with no bad tastes. Overall, truly a great top 50! Well worth the long wait. I had wanted to drink this on graduation night from college, but it waited until now! An imperial stout that everyone should try-people could learn a few lessons about how a beer should be crafted! I sampled this 75 cL bottle recieved from rodolito (Dave) on 09-October-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with my good friend Jon[R888710]. Thanks again Dave for this rare beer on the east coast!
