From a bottle brought by ygtbsm94 at ZBF 08, thanks Brad. Bottle 160 2005. Chestnut colour with thin beige head. Caramelised coconut aroma. Some hop. Sherry, raisiny, oaky, vanilla flavours. Hops and vanilla and dry oloroso sherry spring to mind. That is pretty good. Hot alcohol on finish. But for a barrel aged beer, yeah, pretty good.

Bottle. [Courtesy of wetherel]. Clear medium amber red color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly - fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, grape - pine, orange. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. ;o)) (080208)

Bottle. [Courtesy of wetherel]. Light unclear medium to dark orange color with a large, frothy - creamy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, grape, light to moderate yeasty, soap. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. ;o)) (220108)

Muddy amber body with a lightly brown creamy head. Strong, metallic aroma of port, malts, cognac and aged beer (like more than 10 years) with a very sharp edge, so you get this isn’t really aged for more than 10 years. The aroma isn’t very well balanced, although it is quite complex (this sharp edge just spoils any possible balance). Moderately bitter, lightly sweet (caramel) flavour. Subtle and quite nice, but this weirdy edge still continues in the flavour. Nice anyway, but different.

Bottle at home with Tom and Royce ... Big thanks to Ughsmash for this 2005 bottle 68/225 Brown ... typical barly wine nose with just that hint of spirit(bourboun) ... sweet toffee... loads of vanilla ... but again the Bourbon is showing a bit too much... and a wee bit too sickly for me... Oh dear us scots dont seem to have taken to this that well... Like tom im not sure the barrel ageing has helped so real interested to see how the non BA is... Its got a great initial falvour, but its not draging me back to lifting the glass. very odd. Bottle at home... Deep brown.. Thin tan head... Soft sweet toffee.. Sweet caramel malts nose... Dark roast.. Massive coconut... Dark malts... Soft sweet toffee fruit... Soft mellow malts... Sweet vanilla... Too sweet... Too much vanilla coconut... 3.4

Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany with a massive silky head and excellent retention. Good lacing. As far as aroma? Blindfold me beforehand and I would swear this was chocolate milk. Maybe a little whiskey as well. Absolutely creamy mouthfeel. Taste is caramel and brown sugar with the faintest bitterness at the end. I’ve been kind of afraid of scotch ales after I barely choked down McEwan’s, but this is nice.

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Deep amber colour, mediumsized creamy head. Aroma is fruits, some yeast, caramel malts, spices and raisins. Some mild roasted notes also. Flavour is caramel malts, toffee, some breadyness, fruity and flowery notes along with raisins and mild notes of alcohol.

750 mL bottle at the 5th Annual Epic Beer Tasting in Richmond, VA, November 28, 2010. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a large frothy white head. Good head retention and lacing. Dry bready and yeasty aroma with pear and peach notes. The taste is peach, pear, bread and yeast. Medium-full bodied.

Bottled. Dark mahogany colour, creamy head. Aroma of burnt caramel. Sweet and full bodied with velvetty softness. Roasty and very malty with spun sugar and lots of toffee. Warming and vast in character.

Bottle. Pours an orangish color with minimal head and good lacing. Aroma is sour cherry and apple. Taste is complex, with fruits and butterscotch and coconut. Creamy texture. A little sour, with some green apple in the finish that doesn’t detract from the beer.
