hazy light golden color. Frothy white head. Big perfumy hoppy nose. Almost like a hoppy wit beer. The Belgian yeast shines. Very light dry tons of Belgian yeast with modest aggressive bitterness and fruity hop notes. Super quaffable. Phenolic in mid palate. Wow. This is one best, if not best, Belgian IPAs I’ve had and I don’t like this style.

Bottle at TimE’s. Pours a dark mahogany color with a medium tan head. A nice light roast, spicy nose. Licorice, pepper, toffee, some dark elements. Quite sweet. Solid Belgian porter style beer.

Bottle thanks to TimE. Pours a orange yellow hue with a small white head. A big floral sweet citrus nose. The flavor is funky crazy floral notes, very interesting, vanilla, sweet overall. Something interesting going on here, but not sour. Nice brew.

Tap at Mikkeller Tokyo. Pours orange golden, just a bit of foam, still leaving nice lacings. Funky Belgian yeast nose, fretting some ripe persimmons and maybe dried pear. Taste is also smooth, yeasty fruitiness dominates and bitterness is more in the background adding some extra layers of complexity. Long lightly bitter aftertaste. Really well done actually, Songbird continues to satisfy me, definitely a great small brewery!

Bottle from the brewer. B. claussenii version. Aged about 1 year. Hazy golden color with lace. Dry, funky brett nose, lemon, bread. Lemony, bretty funk flavor, not sour at all, oily and silky body. Interesting and a good start though still some room for adventure.

Blonde shared by KL. A clear blond with a thin filmy head. Tangy pilsner malts, funk and sweet tarts. Interesting, you get the brett and crackery malts in the finish. It is drinking well at the moment with present but restrained Brett notes.

dark cloudy brown color. Good chocolaty nose The mouth shows lots of soapy, citrusy character with some chocolate. Like a wit, so admiringly the color is deceiving but that doesn’t make it anything special

330 ml bottle, bottled Oct 2016, shared by Geiserich, thanks!
Almost black body, with a medium, creamy, beige head.
Aroma of peat, coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, fresh herbs, citrus, some ash,
Tastes quite similar, with a bit more cocoa powder.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes roasty, medium dry, a bit hoppy, a bit peaty, slightly wooden.
Very nice. Really diverse, with a lot of depth, roasty, sweet, hoppy, dry and peat notes in a great balance. Unique stuff, while it isn’t overwhelming, drinks pretty smooth. Enjoyed this a lot.
