500mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark orangey brown with a medium white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, some pine and earthy notes. Flavour is super fresh, with resinous hops, pine, and just enough caramely biscuity malt. Balanced well, with a lovely resinous and piney finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Wax over shiny black poster paper like a flasher putting a condom over his raincoat. Clear deep amber with a pale beige head that lasts pretty well. Luscious aroma of whisky toffee, sultana, vanilla, white pepper. Sticky, low carbonation. Very sweet with fairly big bitterness and integrated some alcohol at the end. More toffee, bread and toast than dried fruit (thought there’s sultanas and plums) spices come through too much for me at the end. Good, but perhaps needs a little time for the flavours to meld a bit more.

Perfect foamy head on top of carbonated foggy gold.Aroma has a few layers, being hops and some detergent sourness, barn funk, not all sweetness which is unique, though the aroma remains rather subdued. I find the hops profile to be not as enticing as it could be, a little muddled, not sharp enough. Of course I’ll still drink this bottle, it’s damned good, but still a few miles from Epic as they say down in the ’hood.

[3/16] Growler. Clear amber with an inch of off white head that lasts well 4+ Vibrant aroma of passionfruit, barely ripe mango, pine, a little sticky bread crust. 8 Light bodied. Loads of fruit - some bitter orange as well as passionfruit and mango - but slightly earthy and with (just) enough bread and pine to keep it clear of fruit salad territory. Medium high bitterness at the end with a bit of boiled orange. I’ve had a number of really good Epic pale ales that were still somehow not quite my thing and thought when one comes along that is it will be something. [10/16] Bottle. A little less vibrant but still very impressive. Mind you at $A14 for 500ml, it’d want to be. [4/18] Now in 330ml bottles. Still hits the spot. bb of 2/19 seems wildly optimistic, though.

Bottle thanks to my wife stephrocks: Poured a dark brown with tan head. Aroma is sweet malty. Taste is rugged metallic malt.

Pours a deep copper-brown colour with ruby highlights. The head is bubbly-foamy, mocha-coloured with good retention and beautiful creamy-foamy lacing. Earthy aromas with some bitter chocolate, roasted malts and some coffee. Flavours of chocolate and roasted malts. Mild grassy hops and coffee in the finish. Hard to feel the fig as if any dark fruits, pretty light. The rest is pretty earthy for a beer, but goes down nicely. Maybe they are sandy figs.

Bottled. Pale copper colour, small off-white head. Aroma is some tea leafs, floral notes, bready and slightly grainy malts as well as some herbal and ripe fruity notes. Flavour is herbal, bready, mildly grainy and hayish with some sweet ripe fruits and plum to it.

Shared by Jonno at the RB Bonnenkai 2015. A deep black with a tan head. Umami, heat, charcoal, mesquite and chocolate. The taste is bitter dark chocolate and a bit of smoke. Solid beer that hid the 9% ABV well, I had no idea it was that strong.
