Description

At Café Botteltje, Ostend. Pours hazy brown with a small, tan head. The aroma contains caramel, (dark) fruits, spices, vinegar and port. It tastes medium to heavy sweet, light bitter and light sour. The finish is slightly dry, wry and tart, with prominent alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Good touch of sourness, but all in all not very refined.

Bottle from HomeBrewStuff. Murky brown, lively bottle, huge billowing head. Earthy and smoky aroma. Taste leans towards a quad, figs, licorice. Lightly toasted malts, fruity. Light for a 10% beer. Not a typical stout.

31/07/2017 @home - 33cl bottle from the brewery. Thick hazy amber with nice white head. Nose is sweet malts, apple, ripe fruits, caramel, would even say light smokey touch, bit quadruple like. Taste is sweet, malts, applecake, caramel, reminds me of calvados but not heavy on alcohol at the end a hopbitter touch. Nice tasting trip.

Sample from 2007 bottle at Kurtkeller 026: Summer-tastic 01 on 06/25/2017. Pours a reddish-brown color with a thick light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of soy sauce, malt and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of syrupy fruit, soy sauce and yeast. The finish is dark fruits and more soy sauce. Average overall.

Mild gusher. Pours dark, unclear blonde. Huge white head smell is extremely yeasty. Banana, thick. Taste is overcarbonated to a new level of extreme. Moslty yeasty, some stale maltyness ( old bread) , very subtile touch of bitterness ( even less than your average lager ). Phenols, esthers and overcarbonation seem to be the concept here.
