Sampled bottled @ Modeste 2016. Red amber brown, tanned head; nose is weird sweet cough syrup, medicinal berries, overly sweet syrupy with typical small brewery Belgian profile. Taste too cloying taste, plastic, orange, overly sweet cough syrup, unpleasant cloying, low gravy. Cloying cough syrup body. Didn’t like all those unpleasant sweet medicinal cough syrup notes.

At Bruges Beer Fest. Pours hazy yellow with a minimal white head. The aroma contains hops, yeast, wheat, spices and some fruits. It tastes medium sweet, medium bitter and light sour. A bit too fizzy, full in body. It’s like a fruity Duvel but lacks something special. Too dry in the mouth and not pleasantly alcoholic.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, pale golden colour with a big and blond, but quickly diminishing foamy head. Mildly yeasty, apricot-fruity aroma with notes of pale malt, minor wheaty hints, as well as shades of flowery hops. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied at best with a moderate carbonation. Slightly sugary malty start with rather subtle fruity accents and a whiff of floral hops in the background; sweet and slightly sticky finish with a restrained hops character. 04.I.16

33cl Bottle from Vonk. Hazy pale golden yellow colour, creamy white head. Aroma of sweet lemon, quite floral, dry, light malty, some yeast, hint of sulphur upon opening that leaves quickly, lavender. Flavour is medium sweet, floral, lavender, sweet lemon, hint of citrus, dry but slightly juicy as well, light malty, light-bitter finish. Medium bodied at best. Nice, I like these Duvel-inspired ales. Not the most exciting but well-made and enjoyable.
