Description

Explosive gushing to a glass of yellow foam, very stable at that; and a bit of orangeish hazy beer. Yeast, dry herbs, and ever so slightly toasted malts, very "beery" aromas. Toast with garden herbs. Very malty flavour, again toasted with an indifferent, if nice bitterish finish. Again garden herbs & weeds. Medium bodied, quite slick, very carbonated. All in all, rather thirteen-to-the-dozen, yet certainly not unpleasant. Brewer calls it a one-off from some years ago, but the sample was still well inside BBD. Thx to L&Y for bringing!

Medium white head, regular, over copper-golden cold hazed beer. Faint ureum, some malts, sweetish nose. Sweet, bit sweet herbs and dito (pale) malts; very slightly toasted. Very demure in general. Feels very light for 7.5%. Not very carbonated either. Mark, seriously, shouldn't you add some 'fireworks'? Thanks to Stef!

Very good snowwhite head over cloudy pale yellow beer. Port in the nose, indeed white port. Strangely enough, also an aroma as from white chocolate. Quite almondy flavour, both sweet and bitter almonds, alcohol, enforcing each other into a bitter marzipan flavour. Faint acidity. Medium bodied at least, bit sticky, medium carbonation. OK, not stellar. Thanks to Stef!

25/VI/21 - 75cl bottle from Zythos Bierfestival (2015), shared @ Gentse Biervereniging lambiektasting, BB: n/a (2021-532)
Clear deep orange beer, big creamy yellowish head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very oxidized, honey, sweet, bit metallic. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, some honey, oxidized, bit malty, pretty good actually! Aftertaste: very oxidized, orange peel, a bit sweet, some cookie dough, not too bad, this has aged gracefull!

Tripel by Den Triest, infused with a postmodern craft beer shot in the form of three New World hops; from a 75 cl bottle shared with Goedele and Sylvan. Snow white, moussy, medium thick, stable head on a misty deep golden beer with warm apricot hue. Aroma of dried lemonbalm, spice bread, banana, clove, red apple, dried orange peel, lemon thyme, moist white pepper, vague passionfruit and kiwi but certainly not the overwhelming New World aromatics that could have been. Sweetish, fruity onset, cooked pear, red apple and some banana, medium carbonated with full, soft mouthfeel; 'fluffy' brioche-bready malts with slight honeyish sweetishness on top, gently but extensively bittered by floral and herbal hoppiness, adding some retronasal aspects of lemongrass, passionfruit and pomelo without becoming truly IPA-like. A grassy bitterness and phenolic yeasty spiciness (4-vinyl-guaiacol) along with breadiness survive longer here than any true New World hop aromas - which is perhaps a bit of a shame seen the possibilities of the hops used here, but on the other hand I did find this one agreeable enough if viewed as a lightly 'craft'-influenced Belgian tripel.

Very dark with soapy head. Aroma and flavour are really intense with fruity hop and lots of roasted coffee and dark malts. Very intense. Slightly too gassy. Huge amount of sludge in the bottle.

31st Jan 2020: 8th International Beer Exchange in De Bierboom (Pre Brugge Bier Festival). Couple of bottles doing the rounds, so grabbed a sample as one came to my table. Misty orange/old golden body, white head. The nose held a grainy ester or two with a hint of unsweetened honey. Taste also grainy with a honey hint. OK, but I am not really a honey in beer sort of bloke!
