A black beer with a dense brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted with some notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and wood. The mouthfeel is creamy.

A hazy orange beer with a small beige head. The aroma is very sweet, fruity, and alcoholic - peaches stand out. The flavor is also very sweet and fruity - again peaches stand out. The alcohol is also strongly present and burns all the way down to the stomach.

An unclear red-brown beer with a nice small brown head. The aroma is fruity with notes of oranges as well as hints of wheat. The flavor is very fruity with notes of lemon and grapefruit, but also with hints of wheat, the end is dry like after eating a lemon. This is not an Alt in my book - too much lemon, but still a decent beer.

An unclear orange-brown beer with a beutiful orange head. The aroma is lovley wheaty, and fruity with notes of oranges and pink-grape, as well as candy suger. The flavor is not as good as the aroma promises, it is wheaty combined with notes of oranges, the wheat gives it a dry end. The body is thin.

A slightly hazy orange beer with a small off-white head. The aroma is very light, what is there is brewmash and citrus. The flavor is very wheaty and very spicy, but also has distinct notes of citrus - in the direction of grapefruit. The spices gives it a dry end.

Served with a slice of lime - I don’t like that. An unclear light yellow beer with a collapsing though lazing white head. The aroma is strong wheaty combined with strong citrus notes. The flavor is also strong wheaty and again combined with strong citrus notes, leading to a dry wheaty end. The body is thin.

On tap 3/6/05 with Muzzlehatch and tiggmtl at the brewpub. From tiggmtl’s glass. Amber-golden, with some light orange tints and a small white head. Quite clear. Aroma of hops, floral and slightly fruity. Flavor is very standard hops and pale malt. A little bit of dry white breadiness, some slight toasted notes and a hint of caramel on the finish. But these are all very faint and though the body is medium and not overly watery, the hops still take front stage here. Pretty standard, by-the-books, as Oakes says, APA.

On tap from Muzzlehatch’s glass at the brewpub with him and tiggmtl. Looks light amber, with a chill haze. Maybe some lightly rusty brown colors in there as well and a white head that quickly fizzles to bubbles. I took one sip and liked it so much that I took another a couple minutes later. Floral/citric bitterness greets you, but there is malt sweetness here as well, though it is in the background. Something in there, the hops or the yeast or the malt reminds me of an aspect of a Trippel. I’m not saying this beer tastes like a trippel, it certainly dosent, I just mean there is some reminiscene of a perfumy, hoppy trippel. Seems very drinkable, ending with a touch of chewiness and light sweetness. Fantastic, bitter, lemon-tea, grassiness in the finish and aftertaste that lingers on. Medium to medium-light body, not watery relative to style. For me, it was one of the more enjoyable non-DdC beers I had out at the brewpubs. I’m already looking forward to going back for more!

On draught at Réservoir, 3/6/05 with Muzzlehatch and tiggmtl. Light orange, weak amberish body, is barely transluscent with a moderate amount of light beige head, fairly well retained. Aroma is dry, lightly nutty/wheaty, with some light citrus, bland yeast and cardboard. I like wheat beers, I like amber ales but this one didnt seem to have great components of either. Medium body does not contain much flavor. Astringent wheat notes, practically no malt sweetness. I’m left sucking on nutty wheat and light hops bitterness. Toasted grains further dry things out. Lots of mineral water flavor. Either they didnt get good extraction, they didnt want much extraction or they were afraid to get too much extraction from the malt, because there’s just no reason this should be so dry and attenuated.

Tap. May 2004 with Tiggmtl. Cherry red beer with cherry cough syrup meets cotton candy aroma. High carbonation. Fresh cherries in mouth, nice tartness, but a little too acidic. Thinner bodied.
