Westerham Brewery Company has revived many of the much-loved flavours of the old Black Eagle Brewery, which closed in 1965 following the catastrophic consolidation by the ‘Big Brewers’ in the 1950’s. The yeast is re-cultured from the Black Eagle strain.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - black and opaque. Off-white head. Nose - cacao nibs, toffee and general roastiness. Taste - more chocolate from malt and additions. Some hazelnut and toffee but mainly dark chocolate. Palate - creamy palate, medium-ish bodied, a bit of roast on the finish. Overall - decent.

Can from the brewery online shop Appearance - amber to brown but fairly clear. Nose - biscuit, bread and toffee. Taste - burnt toffee and brown bread, some spiced malt. Palate - medium bodied with a rpasty middle and finish. Overall - good example of the style.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - golden and clear with a fluffy, almost lively head. Nose - lemon and biscuit. Taste - green bean, bitter salad, lemon and biscuit. Palate - light bodied, bitter finish. Overall - feels more like a Pils than a Vienna, quite like it.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - initially a light gusher or at least lively. Nose - pink grapefruit and blood orange, with zest too. Taste - lightly soapy with pink grapefruit again. Palate - light bodied with a zesty finish. Overall - decent.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - copper to Ruby. Suddy off white head. Nose - red fruits, dried orange but mainly caramel and cakiness. Taste - burnt raisin and burnt toast. Palate - medium bodied, dry almost astringent middle and finish. Overall - definitely more generous on the nose than palate.
