Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

Good looking beer.Lightly hazy amber with frothy lasting off white head and great lace. Tiny bead. Thats the only good I have to say about this. Musty malt nose. Wishy washy taste with an off hop taste at the end. I hope I just got a bad bottle, tasted like water with a few hops.

Dark red / amber color, beautiful head and lace. Very nice aroma: malt, caramel, roasted malt, coffee. Rich mouth feeling, strong caramalt; it turns quickly in a very bitter ale, prelude to a long and strong final. Bitterness is the most evident character, followed by caramel and finally by some hop aroma; would be better if more balanced (less bitter, more hop-aromatic).

I think you are taking your chances with any "novelty" beer like this. I am still having nightmares about the "Romulan Ale". This one wasn't nearly that bad but I still won't get it again. Cloudy honey color with a medium foamy white head. Sweet malt and caramel aroma. No sweetness in the flavor though, the bitterness was prevalent throughout. The beer really ended up thin and too sour toward the end, which really detracted from the whole experience.

An orange beer with very little head. It has a very nice fruity aroma of orange. It is slightly bitter with hints of orange. A very refreshing beer - that I've like to have again.

I’d had this at the Philharmonic in Liverpool and even the pub couldn’t save it. This re-rate in Edinburgh was more successful. Golden-amber. Nice spicy aroma. The character is mellow, lightly spicy, lightly caramelly. Good, with a subtle complexity.

Sampled cask conditioned at Shepherd's Inn, Melmerby, Cumbria.
Amber coloured. Light and fruity. Medium bitterness. Solid, but one-dimensional.

Copper-coloured, rocky head. Very hoppy. CAUTION: If you drink too many of these you might get a Silly Walk!
