Description
110 years of Contreras in a 190 year old brewery. In 1818 Brewery Latte was founded as a typical farm-brewery. In the second half of the 19th century the company was led by Valère Latte who sold the brewery in 1898 to René Contreras. In 1920 René Contreras chose to sell his brewery to his nephew Marcel Contreras. it was Marcel who would transform the brewery into a modern 20th century company. He shaped the buildings as they currently still remain. In 1982 Marcel's son Willy became the sole manager of the brewery. At the start of the 21st century Ann Contreras, the only daughter of Willy Contreras, and her fiancée Frederik De Vrieze gradually took over the daily management of the brewery.

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy amber color with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma of dry hay, Belgian yeast, pepper and some citrus. More Belgian yeast in the flavor along with apricot, grass, dry hay and some spices. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and a balanced bitterness. A fruity and nice Belgian ale.

33cl bottle in the new K & S Beer & Tobacco store/tasting room in Brugge on Sunday 7th Feb 2016. Clean orange pour with a full white head. Hop lead with grass, grapefruit and other citrus notes overpowering any yeast or malty aromas. In the taste there is more balance as the malts assert themselves a little. Decent and a change from all the really heavy beers Belgium is usually known for (that and lager of course).
