Description
110 years of Contreras in a 190 year old brewery. In 1818 Brewery Latte was founded as a typical farm-brewery. In the second half of the 19th century the company was led by Valère Latte who sold the brewery in 1898 to René Contreras. In 1920 René Contreras chose to sell his brewery to his nephew Marcel Contreras. it was Marcel who would transform the brewery into a modern 20th century company. He shaped the buildings as they currently still remain. In 1982 Marcel's son Willy became the sole manager of the brewery. At the start of the 21st century Ann Contreras, the only daughter of Willy Contreras, and her fiancée Frederik De Vrieze gradually took over the daily management of the brewery.

11.2 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. VA. Pours a hazy straw yellow color with a large froth white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of big fruity notes, including pineapple, other tropical fruit notes, citrus, and some toasted grain. The taste is sweet bready notes, candi sugar, banana, citrus and other fruits, a bit of spice and bubblegum. Medium-full bodied. Nice beer.

Lemony, grassy hop aroma, some spice and a bit of honey. Tangy and clean. Brilliant deep gold with a fine, thick head. Clean, hoppy, fruity flavor with bread and just a bit of honey. Nice bitter finish. Crisp, light, clean and tasty. A nice, hoppy Belgian blonde, by far the best of the 4 beers I got from Contreras. Sports a rather saison-like dry finish. This type of hoppy Belgian medium weight blonde has become my favorite style this year. This is a pretty good example of it.

330 ml bottle. Citrus and honey malt aroma, spicy, ok hops, grass. Golden with orange and a tall, fluffy head. Sweet, fruity flavor, bready, with honey and citrus. Quite spicy, with cinnamon and quite a lot of ginger. Spice is a bit much. Light bitterness. interesting tripel, but a bit too heavy, sweet, and spicy.

330 ml bottle. Fruity aroma with citrus, pear, honey, golden malts, and a bit of spice. Deep orange-gold with lots of little floaties and a low, lacy head. Sweet, malty flavor, honey, lemon, sweet bread, pears and peaches; quite yeasty, thick and heavy, oily palate, slight hop botterness in the finish but I would appreciate much more. ok, but rather boring and gutless.

Fruity, viny aroma, oxidized, with raisins, light spice, some caramel. medium amber color going towards orange, with a fine, thick, low head. Sweet, fruity flavor, lots of raisins and honey, a little caramel and citrus. There is a distinctly tart aspect. Not excessively bitter, rather dry at the end, though. Smooth, somewhat low carbonation. Seems slightly oxidized. Well-balanced but not all that interesting. Seems like it would be better if fresher.
