Description
110 years of Contreras in a 190 year old brewery. In 1818 Brewery Latte was founded as a typical farm-brewery. In the second half of the 19th century the company was led by Valère Latte who sold the brewery in 1898 to René Contreras. In 1920 René Contreras chose to sell his brewery to his nephew Marcel Contreras. it was Marcel who would transform the brewery into a modern 20th century company. He shaped the buildings as they currently still remain. In 1982 Marcel's son Willy became the sole manager of the brewery. At the start of the 21st century Ann Contreras, the only daughter of Willy Contreras, and her fiancée Frederik De Vrieze gradually took over the daily management of the brewery.

Bottled 330ml (Beer Planet, BB 06/2009)
Dark amber color, small white head. Aroma has toffee, dried dark fruits and balsamico. Medium-bodied. Flavor is similar to aroma: tart Oud Bruinish flavor with dark fruits, balsamico and malts. Also tasting like "Pommac" lemonade somehow. Palate is quite watery (no suprise, only 4.8 %). I wonder if fresh bottles are tart.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours hazy gold with a foamy 4 finger off-white head. Strong spice aroma. More veg than pepper. Suggestions of kandi. Medium body with very foamy carbonation. Flavor is light malt with a strong spice/pepper flavor. Smells veg, tastes pepper. There’s a lingering sweetness throughout. Lightly so. Finishes pretty balanced. Sugar and pepper to be crude. There’s a lot going on in this one.

Pour is a orange with some floaties and a large whtie head. Aroma is very sweet with a very nice hop in the backround. Flavor is also sweet sugar at first then follows a very nice hop. This is a very stellar beer with lots of Belgian yeast/sweetness with an outstanding hop profile.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours hazy gold with a 4 finger foamy white head. Medium body; foamy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is very strong herb or cardamom with a light peppery/spicey undertone. Not bitter - it’s mildly sweet. But the pepper/spice tends to provide a balance. In the finish it suggests lemon/pepper. Tho slightly sweet.
