Bottle (5.5%) courtesy of Papsoe (thanks!) and shared with ozujsko Poured a honey-like orange-ochre murky body with a medium sized thick white head that went away at a medium pace. A pleasant nose of herbs and banana with a strong elder presence.. nicely sweet/sour. The taste is dominated by the elder (I didn’t even know it was added until I read the commercial description here), sweetish, somewhat herbal/fruity... no hoppy bitterness (just aroma hops?). A bit one dimensional, but pleasant and drinkable and I kinda like it (because I love elder juice). All in all, not the greatest beer you can find but it’s ok I guess.

(On tap) Hazy, dark brown with a warm, orange hue. Small, off-white head. Sweetish nose with some hard roasted malt accents. Good, full body rich in sweetish, roasted malt with a lightly burned edge. Some bitterness in the finish - but mostly from the malts. Didn’t really pick up many bourbon accents which is a pity when this is supposed to be a whiskey beer. Turn it up please. 261107

From tap at Ølbaren, somehow I guess Papsø should be thanked for this brew being in existence. Pours dark brown and with a dense chocolate brown head. Soft chocolate and smooth roasted malt aroma. Flavour is rather sweet. Has a nice caramel and chocolate flavour with a mild alcohol edge. Ends smooth and with a mild whiskey note lingering. Nice and smooth brew.

Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, cocoa beans, roasted malt, and lighter notes of bourbon and alcohol. The flavor is sweet though with an underlying acidity, and notes of hard roasted malt and bourbon, as well as lighter notes of alcohol and cocoal, leading to a dry roasted and slightly alcoholic finish. OK, but not great.

Bottled (6.0%, thanks Papsoe). Deep dark brown colour, near to black. Small brown head. Aroma is oxidized malts, hops and mild alcohol. Flavour is quite oxidized and acidic. Roasted malts, some wood, alcohol and a bit earth. BBE was 10/07, so not too old...
