Medium yellowish, fine & dense head over pale foxy-amber beer. Sweet nose, pineapple ester, some discreet hops, freshly baked bread. Good British bitter characteristics, well-hopped; some dry, non-sweet malts and very diluted caramel. Refreshing. Light to medium bodied (which probably turns it into a strong ale, UK perception willing). Dry finish & aftertaste. Good one, for sure! Thanks to DeanS!

Cask handpull at Fox & Anchor, London. Gold, thin head. Reminds me of an Oakham’s beer. Decent pink grapefruti hop aroma. Good and fullish in mouth, finish is superb. Good pink grapefruit hop, which builds. It’s extremely good. Surprise of the day. Great.

Cask conditioned at The Wellington, Birmingham 21/1/09. Deep, vivid gold in colour with a decent white head. Seriously subdued aroma of hay and apricots. Flavour bucked up a bit, with some sweet, digestive malts, citrus hops and a decent bitter finish, which proved to be very lingering with some accompanying floral and pine hops. Very backloaded.

500ml Bottle - Copper coloured. Hoppy aroma with grapefruit, caramel and chocolate. Hoppy taste with a light sweetness which is then followed by bitterness from notes of grapefruit and caramel.

500ml Bottle - Golden coloured with a white head and moderate carbonation. Grassy and hoppy aroma with pineapple and tea. Fairly hoppy taste with grapefruit, pineapple and a pleasant bitterness. The bitterness fades a bit in the finish but is still very pleasant.

Crisp clean light amber/copper coloured body with a very thin white head and a few bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of fresh cascade hops with a bit of citrus and some pine - pretty nice and mild. Medium-bodied then turns Light; Mild malty flavour with some hops following soon behind, while being very low in alpha acids. Aftertaste shows some faint sweetness, a touch of grassy hops and very little else. Overall, tastes like an english bitter on cask, poured out of a bottle with a little higher alcohol. Worth trying if you can find it and with as little ratings as it has - definitely nice for an American to try it over here stateside. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from the Utobeer Market stall in Borough (London), England at the Borough Market on 13-December-2008, sampled less than a month later on 05-January-2009 while eating some cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy (also at Borough Market).

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham on 29th December 2008. Utterly exquisite. Hoppy and very bitter, yet maintaining a delicate roundedness to give a trifocal flavour experience. A good zingy mouthfeel too. But for the plan to visit other pubs in the area I would have stood myself another pint!
