Bottle at home. A proper ESB! And it was lovely, with deep and rich malt and bitter hops. This is proper English and I love it.

Pint in my village local. A true English bitter with well balanced bitter hops and malt and all with a sensible abv.

Darker brown. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, fig, plum, light cinnamon, light cake. Taste is sweet rich with medium bitterness. Super rich and low carbonation. Good stuff.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a dark (almost very dark) reddish brown with a small tan head and good lacing. There’s roasted malts and dark fruits in the aroma plus some plumy hints. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a creamy texture. Flavour has dark fruits, roasted malts, coffee and traces of cocoa wit some liquorice coming through later leading to a fruity finish. This is decent, but is a bit thin.

This is the one of two ales by name previously tried before the Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2025, so not exactly a new rate, but a variation tick. Very nice in cask form. Easy, light roasted, hint of nuttiness in aroma.

On cask at the Standing Order.
Appearance - deep brown to black with a thin beige head.
Nose - sweet chocolate, then dry chocolate with an edge of plum.
Taste - plums, prunes but mainly chocolate and brown bread.
Palate - light to medium bodied, with a roasty finish.
Overall - pleasant but lacks body.

Cask at the Briar Rose; dark brown pour with a thin light tan head, aroma has light coffee, taste has dark fruits, a hint of liquorice, unexpected taste from the aroma, but was ok
