Description
The Bullfinch Brewery was first set up in the kitchen of former travelling sound engineer, beer enthusiast and home brewer Ryan Mclean.
Ryan's travels have ignited a passion and love for great beer. His continuing commitment to the quality of beer and his enthusiasm have created Bullfinch Brewery and its contemporary take on craft beer here in the UK.
Ryan has been brewing professionally since 2014 and is making progressive beers that blend experimental ideas with traditional brewing methods and techniques.
Hidden away under a railway arch in South East London Ryan can be found brewing his modern ideas on a much loved and used, historic 5 Barrel kit originally built by Charles Wells.

Keg at the brewery during RBESG 2014. It pours lightly hazy with a decent beige head. The nose is spicy, earthy, wood, rye bread, toast, mild caramel, meaty notes and varnish. The taste is bitter, spicy, brown bread, rye, earth, varnish, leather, punchy bitterness and pine with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Punchy and drinkable. Very well executed and one of Bullfinch’s best.

Bottle, from the brewery, consumed on the train to Windsor 26/07/14. Light black with a moderate tan covering that retains. Nose carries a trace of plastic, earthy hop, pine, bitter citrics, liqourice, spice, red berry fruit roulade, the plastic dies away but lingers a little. Taste comprises earthy hops, light cocoa powder, no plastic in the flavour, tangy red berry, earthy mineralisms. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, earthy hop bitterness in the close. Ok CDA, let down by the plastic on the nose, gave me polystyrene burps!

Keg at the CP&K on 5th birthday day, as Bullfinch Cask. Lightly hazed pale golden with a moderate off white covering that retains. Nose is hoppy, light pine, mineral notes, grapefruit, straw. Taste comprises orange pith, lemon rind, touch of bread dough, biscuit, straw. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close with grassy hop bitterness. Ok SIPA, lacks hops and juicy citricana for me.
