Description
The Bullfinch Brewery was first set up in the kitchen of former travelling sound engineer, beer enthusiast and home brewer Ryan Mclean.

Ryan's travels have ignited a passion and love for great beer. His continuing commitment to the quality of beer and his enthusiasm have created Bullfinch Brewery and its contemporary take on craft beer here in the UK.

Ryan has been brewing professionally since 2014 and is making progressive beers that blend experimental ideas with traditional brewing methods and techniques.

Hidden away under a railway arch in South East London Ryan can be found brewing his modern ideas on a much loved and used, historic 5 Barrel kit originally built by Charles Wells.

On tap at the brewery. Hazy pale gold lasting thick white head. Very hoppy. Fresh hop flower aroma and flavour. It’s creamy in the mouth and then hop tannin on the finish. I liked it. Good intense hop flavour. Tannin rather than bitter on the finish. I would happily drink this

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown Black beer lasting thin tan head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Over carbonated but a decent light porter/stout. Has some blackcurrant fruit some chocolate some dry roasted flavour. I mean what is a stout or a porter these days? Apart from the carbonation its light and nicely drinkable.

Draft at the brewery - London. Pours rich brown with a lingering, creamy tan head. Lots of toasty cereal in the nose with understated dry cocoa accents. Light sweet flavor with light charcoal, cocoa, some dry toast, grains, burnt hay, maybe some dog biscuits (maybe...). Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. More slightly ashy roast on the finish , more toasty cereal, light ash, hints of smoked meat. Has a really interesting, kind of odd flavor profile. Drinkable enough but a little awkward.

Keg at the brewery tap, 31/05/14. Lightly hazed golden with a good sized off white covering that retains well. Nose is pale malts, tangerine, light spice, straw, lemon peel, orange pith. Taste comprises earthy hops, light pine, mandarin, straw, grapefruit, dank notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close laced with hop bitterness. Ok IPA.

Draft at the brewery - London. Pours cloudy gold with a creamy, white head. The aroma holds jammy citrus, orange, peach, pale bread, some minerals. Medium sweet flavor with further jammy citrus fruits, tangerine, orange, nectarine, low bitterness, mild pith, straw. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes sweet and lightly resinous with more ripe, jammy citrus, stone fruits, dry white bread, faint bitter hay. I don’t tend to like jammy IPAs but the pith in here dries it out just enough to balance things out. Very decent.

Bottle at home from the brewery shared with Sarah. Aroma is nice hedgerow fruits, strawberries, toasted malts, light caramel and ligh english yeast esters. Clearish reddish amber coloured pour with a large rocky off white head. Palate has very high aggressive carbonation that attacks the tongue then leaves it wanting. Flavour is composed of nice strawberry and raisin fruits with some marmelade on toasted malts. Solid earthy hedgerow bitterness. Finishes dry with semi-sweet Intesting beer, lacks ummph.
