Bottle courtesy of daniele, shared with Mortlach. Grazie Dan. Dark copper hazy pour, little off white head with some drafts and minimal retention. Nose: ripped orange pulp, a bit medicine syrup, meh. Mouth: unpleasant raw feel of medicine, really bad.

Dark brown coloured body with a three centimetre tall light brown head that fades fast to just a small coating on top. Aroma of roasted malt, smoked peat, lactose, cream, oak and a good deal of vanilla pods. Medium-bodied; Very dry, roasty flavour with the earth, nuts and malt all coming through, with a touch of a vanilla and oak flavour along with a lot of lactose and cream flavours. Aftertaste very dry, with smoked peat notes, grain, oatmeal, a hint of sugars and just an overall malty feel throughout. Overall, a decent dry stout that shows well and has the characteristics of those from the Carribean and certain parts of Africa, which is nice and good to try for those who haven’t had beers from those locales or can’t get dry stouts too often. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$3,79 sampled at home in Washington on the first slightly chilly day here for the season, on 11-November-2016.
