Description
Steel City Brewing is a brewing company with a very new world outlook on life! Rather than buying our own brewery - with all the associated cost and hassle that entails - we have decided, initially at least, to become what's known in Europe as a "Cuckoo" brewery... We started off doing our first brews at The Brew Company, before capacity issues saw us move to Little Ale Cart, where we spent three years proving even the most Heath-Robinson brew kit can be used to make good beer! We then outgrew the kit moved to Toolmakers brewery, before moving again to Lost Industry in 2016.
When we started we were (and still are) huge fans of hops and there just weren't enough brewers in the UK using them, even though that sounds ridiculous in today's beer world. So, rather than moaning into our beer, we thought we'd do something about it and brew some of our own! Over time as the beer scene evolved, there was less need for our style of hoppy beers since everyone was brewing with them so we evolved too and widened our style portfolio.

Cask at Craft 100. It pours clear golden with a small, bubbly white head. The nose is fresh, floral, tangerine, apricots and candied peel. The taste is fresh, orange peel, soap, lemon peel, peppery spice, grapefruit and onions. Medium body, fine carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Good level of bitterness. The onion-like aspect is a bit off-putting after a while...

Craft100 fest at Craft Clapham. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, residual white head. Palate is light and dry. Big Apollo hop like garlic. Underneath is thin malt with a strong white smoke streak. Light dry finish. Weird.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham purchased and consumed the same day at mums, Worcester, Friday 4th April 2014 Pours cloudy yellow with a white head. Wonderfully hoppy with a nice pithiness, a little dustiness . This is nicely bittersweet, juicy with the bitterness coming to the fore and ending in a dry finish. A damn good beer. Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Cloudy, straw clour. Halo of white bubbles. Fusty, overripe mandarin. Some cut grass. Taste is woody dry, before the bitterness kicks in. Lifeless condition, though, to be blunt.

Bottle from Dave (thanks a million) [260314]
Light orange, hazy, big bubbly frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of big citrus fruits, tropical fruits, lots of orange, mango, very fruity, very light sweet pale malt background, getting some gooseberry as it warms up, complex citrus aroma
Taste as aroma, orange, tangerine, mango, grapefruit, bitter orange, soft light sweet pale malts, huge bitter citrus zest
Palate - soft carb, medium body, soft smooth texture, soft light malts, very bitter zest. Finish has loads of crushed citrus zest, tons of grapefruit zest, long lingering very bitter zest that’s tempered by the light pale sweet malts. Great palate.
Overall - Absolutely superb APA, huge fresh zest, so much citrus. Often beers that are very bitter are astringent - this wasn’t at all.
