When we started we were (and still are) huge fans of hops and there just weren't enough brewers in the UK using them, even though that sounds ridiculous in today's beer world. So, rather than moaning into our beer, we thought we'd do something about it and brew some of our own! Over time as the beer scene evolved, there was less need for our style of hoppy beers since everyone was brewing with them so we evolved too and widened our style portfolio.

Cask gravity at Mason & Taylor Hip Hop BF. Towards bottom if the barrel. There was certainly some barrel tipping going on. Thats pretty good. Theyve put some hops in there. Wow just like hop tea on the finish. Harsh aggressive but almost completely wonderful. Wow that does have a hell of a finish. I may still be tasting this beer next week. Sat chatting to Dave you know Dave from The Wenlock. Hardcore. Jesus thats just on the right edge of becoming undrinkably hoppy but is just restrained enough. Crazy beer.

Cask at the Wenlock Arms on 23rd March 2011. Slightly hazy gold with thin ring of foam. Hoppy and rich yeasty aroma. Bitter in-mouth; liquid giving some richly hoppy and bitter notes. Textured mouthfeel and increasingly bitter aftertaste. Impressive for its strength.

Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 04.02.11 Pours black with some reddish glints and with a light beige head on top. Aroma is quite big hoppiness but there is also some roasted notes and a goodly lacing of decent cocoa powder. In fact the latter was what I also liked in the mouth and whilst I really enjoyed that clean crisp green juicy hoppy bite I also liked the interplay with the nice smooth but dark cocoa richness that sat on the tongue. Overall a great beer and vying for my festival favourite with the Crouch Vale Pioneer. Great stuff again Gazza! A8 A5 T8 P4 Ov16 4.1
