Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.

We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

Merged with Harpoon in 2024, forming Barrel One Collective.

Draft. Wow, very alcoholy and it tastes it. Pours a dark dark black, taste is some mocha but the alco is overpowering, IMO. Not that great a rep of the style.

16 oz. can from Total Wine. Pours a cloudy dark bronze color with a tall khaki head and great retention. Lots of streaming bubbles. Very good lacing. Surprisingly faint caramel and hops aroma. Initial caramel malt notes, followed by a stronger hops and bitter finish. Very close to an amber ale profile. Less bitter than I expected, yet still too bitter for my liking. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Moderate bitterness.
