Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.

We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

Merged with Harpoon in 2024, forming Barrel One Collective.

Bottle. Hazy gold color, small head. Aroma was like weak spicy hay. Taste was really weak with what I think is suppose to be a saison flavor.

Bottle. Nice complex ale. Medium-dark brown with a tan head that was small and disappeared quickly. Aroma was kind of chocolatey, with whiffs of oak and toasted grains. Taste was really nice with hints of toasted malts and grains. Slightly sweet upfront with a light toasted bitter finish.

Bottle. Dark brown with a medium sized, lush, creamy head that was long lasting. Lots of lace. Aroma had hints of coffee and dried fruit. Taste was coffee with hints of fruit cake, and slow roasted grains. Sweet upfront and a nice smooth finish. Great winter warmer.

Bottle. Weird pink color, like a cloudy, light red grape juice. Aroma is vinegar and spicy. Taste is like a weird Belgian ale. Not all that great.

Bottle. Almost clear, very dark brown body with a beige head. Very pleasant aroma of sweetish, dark malt, dry fruit and chocolate. Flavor is sweet and pleasant, dark malt, mild roast, smooth, coffee, chocolate, dry fruit and balancing bitterness. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Classic.

4pack from the lcbo. Jet black pour, big mocha head. Aroma is incredibly roasty, but also has a lovely round fruitiness. Hints of soy and milk chocolate, and subtle hazelnut. Oily mouth feel, nice carb. Finish is medium bitter, loads more roast, some smoke, and fruity. Really nice stuff.
