Description
It all started with a neighbor sharing a homemade beer. Liz saw how excited Jamil was and bought him a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. Jamil became obsessed with brewing the perfect beer and became a homebrew legend in the process by winning a first-place medal in every known beer, mead, and cider style category. Eventually, his passion to brew was too strong and Jamil and Liz decided to take the plunge and open Heretic Brewing Company.

We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

(Bottle) Hazy coppery amber with good dense off-white head. Lovely aroma - floral hops over toast with hints of pine and honey. Medium body with excellent carbonation - velvety and bright. Good session beer taste - not heavy or rich, but with rye giving unusual bread notes to the malt, and some nice crisp bitterness in the finish. A very quaffable American Pale Ale.

Deep golden color. Pineapples, apples and apricots in the nose. Full bodied, medium sweet, apricot, pineapples and strawberries. Decent bitterness. Decent IIpa but doesn’t do anything so special for me.

Tap at Kamikaze. Black with a pretty, fine head. Nose of light vinegar, cream, vanilla, cherries. Rather faint. Sweet chocolate flavor, creamy, cherry, canilla, yogurt. Not all that sour, but well balanced and tasty.

Tap at Tadg’s. Great nose—tangy grapefruit, amber malts. Red-brown with lace. Nice hoppy flavor, caramel, earth, grass, citrus. A good hoppy amber a la Hophead Red.

Part of the 1000  at AQ Bevolution’s Event at Kamikaze 7% a bit darker than Miscreant Sour Ale with a similar beige head. An aroma is a very soft sweet chocolate quality. The flavor is roasty/toasted notes, chocolate & a bit of bitterness. Very smooth.
