Description
It all started with a neighbor sharing a homemade beer. Liz saw how excited Jamil was and bought him a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. Jamil became obsessed with brewing the perfect beer and became a homebrew legend in the process by winning a first-place medal in every known beer, mead, and cider style category. Eventually, his passion to brew was too strong and Jamil and Liz decided to take the plunge and open Heretic Brewing Company.

We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Clean mahogany color with beige compact head. The aroma has strong dusty mellow caramel component, a sign of American yeast strain. Sweet, full bodied, with some alcohol warmth, plenty of mellow caramel flavor, some sweet nuts, ordinary bitterness.
This yeast doesn’t provide any character; and even less, no Belgian character.

Dark color, red mahogany, with mediium sized beige head. Nice aroma, there is some caramel, light hop resins and light red grapes. The body is lean but not weak, fairly dry; it has the expected dark caramel flavor, not oppressive as in other Red Ales though, with a pinch of nuttiness, and immediately overwhelmed by a pretty powerful bitterness, a good amount of hop resins, not much hop fruitiness besides some bitter oranges.
Red IPA is not the best style around, but this one is above the average.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with moderate to light head that settles quickly. Aromas of sweetened grapefruit, dark berries, pine, and brown sugar. Flavors of pine, berries, toasty malts, and bitter citrus. Bitter finish. Smells great - flavors not as much, but still very good overall

Tap at Harenoni. Glowing, hazy medium to deep red, lace. Nose is hibiscus, lemon, a bit acidic. Lemony, crackery flavor, nicely tangy, not too much of the hibiscus. Better than I expected, though 1 small glass is enough.
