33cl bottle from Sainsbury. I can now see why people go on about this so much. Deep ruby in colour with thin beige head. Good deep fruit aroma, brown sugar, slightly syrupy in mouth with excellent hop balance. Plums/raisins. Lovely peppery hops dancing over the top. Vinous. Slightly boiled sweet from the pasteurisation

Golden color. Light aroma of unmalted cereals and yeast. Poor taste, low strength, a bit stale; a lot of yeast. I suspect the cask is old.

Cask handpull, Folkestone Wetherspoons. Orange/copper colour with thick bige tight lasting head. Some sulphur along with yeasty nose. Bit thin in mouth with some biscuit malt. Some floral hop and yeast finish. Fine bitter of this style

Cask handpull at Market Porter. Deep gold colour with no head. Toffee apple aroma with green apple acid in mouth which continues onto the end. Some hop. I find that some beers I have at the Market Porter are disappointing and this is another in that class. Is the turnover of beer too high and this sacrifices the quality?

Cask at Rose & Crown, Mundy Bois. Copper colour. Lasting white head with nice bitter hops. Bit watery in mouth with hoppy dry finish. Slightly yeasty.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Brownish amber. Rich caramel aroma. Fairly sweet and lightly roasty with loads of toffee and caramel. Light bodied with soft mouthfeel. Lightly salty finish. A damn good ale all about caramel.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Dark amber. Orangey perfumy hop aroma. Sweet and softly malty with notes of sugar and cloves and gentle velvetty mouthfeel´. Medium bitterness. A very interesting aromatic, fresh ale.

[Cask at GBBF 2004] An amber beer with no head. The aroma is very light - what is there is sweet with notes of caramel, while the flavor is a thin flavor of caramel and hops. Too weak for me.

Oxidized caramel, but still some body, carbonation and sweetness. Old but drinkable still. Chestnut honey. Roasted nuts.

The aroma has more caramel than anything else. Same for the flavor, with some nutty touch. I confirm the rating.

Dark brown color; thick creamy head; filtered. Ripe apple aroma. Some malt, a lot of caramel, quite strong liquorice flavor; warming alcohol; some sweetness. Not enough malty, too much bitter, unbalanced; I didn’t feel the need for this one.
