Medium beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep dark brown body. Earthy chocolatey aroma with burnt mealy notes. Dry-sweet earthy cocoa taste with burnt wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy chocolatey aftertaste with burnt nougat notes. The flavour is very vivid, but not very complex. Still interesting. (0.5l bottle, from Clarke’s, Whitby.)

Cask, half pint at The Fox & Newt. Nitro creamy white head, spotty lacing. Yellow-gold coloured body. Sweaty hops on the nose. Modest taste of citrus, lemon and resin. Fruit bitter endnotes. Oily palate. Refreshing (Leeds 30.06.2013).

Cask @ Shoulder of Mutton in Mytholmroyd. Amber with a thick textured grain based flavour, and maybe some orange. Has a creamy head.

Cask gravity at Tenterden BF 2013. Clear pale gold thick white head in spanking condition. Mild citrus aroma full and lovely condition in mouth. Lovely golden ale. Mmmmmmm

Cask-conditioned at the Red Lion, Whitehall, Bristol 3/6/2013. Deep, dark ruby red in colour with a slight, off-white head. Very easy drinking, with some sweetish berry fruits, hint of toastiness and gentle finish. Excellent.

Pub clip claimed it was a ’West Yorkshire’ Beyond the Pale on 28 May 2013 at The Fighting Cocks, Stottesdon in Shropshire. My hand-pulled pint was a clear golden colour with a thin but full and lasting white head. Citrusy hops fill the nose and mouth, this is all hops with only a mild malt content to help balance the flavours. Dry finish with a mini floral feel below the citrus front. Refreshing and almost interesting.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, toasted - caramel, light to moderate hoppy, fruity, light butterscotch. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130329]
