Barrel works pretty well here, tastes more winy than bourbony. Pours orange with good head and lacing. Fruity. Finishes sweet and tart. Some grapefruit, bretta and other citrus. Great mix. Tap at Snallygaster.

Draft pour at Snallygaster 2014. Poured a murky ruby brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was dark fruits, barrel comes through. Flavor was malty, sweet fruits, light hop. Alcohol is present, smooth for the most part though.

Nice short name, that’s what I like about it. Lots of Granache wine-type aroma and not a lot of mead. There is some substance here behind the barrel, but you’re mostly drinking the barrel nonetheless. Lightly sour with lots of tartness. Some citrus and caramel, with a faint idea that there was once roast. Mead isn’t very noticeable. Bottle shared by Ed at Churchkey - thanks!

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours a murky amber brown with a white head. Aroma is loads of wine, vinegar, wood, fruit, and sugar. Taste is sour at the front, but against a rather heavy malt backbone that provides adequate but not excessive amounts of sweetness. Alcohol is well covered by all that stuff. Plenty of complexity, but not lacking on drinkability. Glad to
