4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Slightly hazy orange with off-white head. Aromas of white wine, vinegar. Tastes of white wine, vinegar, stone fruit, light funk, light vanilla, tart notes. Medium body with a fairly dry finish. Pretty good.

On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours a clear yellow gold with medium creamy white head that lasts. The aroma is strong juniper, oak, straw. Thin mouth, nice tartness, juniper, very impressive.

Bottled (only batch) drunk 3/5/16.
Kept this in the fridge for quite a long time to see if the yeast would clean it up without any oxidation creeping in. Can’t really speak to whether that happened or not, but it does seem clean and unoxidized. It pours a deep maroon-crimson-purple with strong mahogany tones and shows a good clarity with a tan head atop that slowly fades to cover.
Big chocolate, caramel, red grape and wood notes in the nose seem to balance each other out nicely, though perhaps the grape character comes off a bit acetic-like. Otherwise, there’s nothing particularly surprising here having had JW Lees and knowing what to expect. Malt. Lots of it. Very sweet.
And so it goes in the flavor, though I certainly think the grapes and wine barrel aging add more complexity to this otherwise rather boring caramel-chocolate-vanilla concoction. Grapey, winey, woody and quite fruity, there’s light dark chocolate and tons of caramel on the finish. Alcohol is fairly well-controlled but there is certainly some sharpness and a bit of rawness at times. Soft, nearly syrupy body is hugely malted and luxurious/dessert-like, with low carbonation.

Growler filled 2/13/16 and drunk 2/20/16, shared by blisscent.
Small but wispy off-white head atop a hazy amber body.
Thyme, mint and moderate lactic acid in the nose are quite complementary. Not much wine barrel influence and no alcohol, with lots of grassiness, spiciness and clean belgian esters.
A bit more sourness in the flavor, with light acetic notes but primarily soft lactic acids. Lemon-thyme-like notes are soft and well-done, with ample carbonation and a good attenuation. Not intensely sour. Baladin is a good brewer and the zin barrel treatment has not changed that.

750 ml growler from Blisscent, thanks Nelson! Dirty orange color with very little head. Pretty decent fruity elements. Pineapple, rotten peaches and a hint of white grapes.

The sourness is deep but the acid is lower then say... Trillium Blackberry Soak. The acid is way lower so it kind of is easier to drink if you really like bold sourness. Lightly sharp sourness.

Very cloudy it’s a burnt orange appearance. no head from Nelson’s 75CL Glasses. Smells really good. A lot of nectarine and grapefruit and even some banana and other herbal notes. Juicy. Very tart, whoa, vinegar burn throughout even in the finish there’s a little bit of butter here. it is quite impressive. there’s a sharp lactic acid presence.
