Pour is a very cloudy yellow for a lager. Head is frigging huge! Aroma is a nice malt and hop mix. Flaovir is a citrusy and hop combo. The finish is nice and refreshing. A nice twist to the stayle and quite tasty.

Nearly completely opaque with a medium-sized, dark tan lace - aroma of dark roast coffee - full mouthfeel - quite dry and not sweet at all (quite a nice change from some of the other clowing imperial stouts out there) - perfectly bitter and roasty - very full for an imperial of such a low ABV - pretty impressive, but not great.

Bottle. Grapefruit-lemon aroma. Dark orange yellow color with little head. Grapefruit, lemon and wheat flavor. A very citrusy weizen - doesn’t have much of the typical banana/clove flavors apparent.

Bottled. Nut brown, not much head. Cranberries in aroma. At first strawberries in flavour, then cranberries and hints of caramel and hops and some weak notes of roast.

One of the best aromas of any beer I have ever had. This was in my basement for over a year, in the dark. It exploded out of the bottle as soon as the cap was partially removed. Immediately an outstanding aroma of wheat, fruit, and white wine. Orange, cloudy, with some sediment and a head that remains until the end of the beer. Alcohol is hidden well in the flavor, but here the beer disappoints. There is a minor herbal character and the taste of Belgian yeast. Overall it is too dry for my taste. I prefer a sweeter barleywine. Heavy palate; great, smooth mouthfeel.

750mL bottle from HopsorDie, thanks! Shared with bucknaked on 4/30/2005.
The amount of wavy yeast lines sitting in suspension at the bottom is ridiculous. Pour is a red-amber, VERY hazy with a quickly dissipating off-white/beige head. Aroma of cider vinegar, prunes soaked in brandy, plums, soured apricots, a strong dose of caramel and a good sour wheat twang. Not particularly full in aroma, but the notes there are quite interesting and give a nice raw vintage appeal to it (though perhaps a bit too cidery in the end). Flavor shows a good deal of sherry notes, light mandarin oranges, more unripe nectarines and apricots and a good base of caramel malt. Earthy notes are quite dominant on the finish, with more sour apple cider coming through and some dry peppery notes. I like the acidity level, which is particularly high for an American beer and even high for a wheat wine. The body is another story though, sad and tired, the carbonation level is extremely low, the body is very watery and the gritty sediment does not help in such a watery body. They sure put a hell of a lot of time in to these, it seems, why don’t they cork it? Still, a great wheat wine, and very stylish, IMHO.

Bottled. Nut brown near no head. Strong lychee hop aroma. Dry, crisp and light bodied. Heavily hoppy with lingering bitter finish. Reminds me of a really dry German style pilsener but made with American hops. A nice little beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pleasing ale smell with nice bitter hops at the pour. In the glass, it has a thin head and a slightly hazy "new penny" copper color. Taste is fine and to style; stacks up to a Sierra Nevadawith its slightly fruity esters and not-too-sweet malts. Northwestern style hops that turn sharp as your drink it, piney and resiny. The only drawback is that it’s kind of gassy. It seems to want to be a medium beer in a world of massively hopped monsters.

Pour is black as midnight with a small tan head. Aroma is malty. Flavor is roasted malts with some chocolate in there. I agree with some of the raters here that the flavor is overall weak for the style. Rather average brew.

Bottled. Dark amber, non-existant head. Lychee aroma. Sweet with abruptly short mouthfeel, but lingering hoppiness. There’s some ash and apple in there, and the short finish is harsh and bitter. A mediocre IPA.
