This beer is unlike other imperial stouts I have grown to like especially the body which is thin and fizzy indicating overcarbonation. The big-bubbled head on this quickly diminished to nothing. The aroma was of roasted malts and burnt wood. The flavor also showcases roasted malts with some sweet notes. It finishes bitter, but the bitterness doesn’t stick around. Not a favorite.

’05 bottle - moderate head, amber color, citrus aromas. This beer smells and tastes very much like a weizen. Clearly the alcohol content is much higher than your standard weizen, but don’t expect it to taste anything like most barley wines. The palate has a lively carbonation and moderate body with a long mildly bitter finish. Thanks to Thedm and Hotstuff for this most unusual brew.

Hazy orange colour with a tan head. Hoppy fruity aroma with hints of resin. Malty flavor that is well balanced with the hoppy resin flavor. Dry bitter aftertaste. A nice one.

(Bottle 65 cl) Very unclear amber with a creamy, yellowish head. Fruity, sweetish hoppy nose. Full-bodied with some accents of caramel and a markedly bitter finish. 270106

A slightly hazy orange beer with a small orange head. The aroma is very hoppy and grassy, while the flavor is sweet hoppy - but a somewhat herbal hoppiness, that doesn’t quite do the trick for me. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky.

Red copper IPA with a thin white head. Restrained hops in aroma with light caramel notes. Good whiskey malt base with nice Fuggles hops (or very British style), lightly floral. Nice and fresh, lighter bodied, a bitr week for an IPA, more like a pale ale. On tap at the Map Room, Nov. 12, 2005.

Bottle, best before 12/26/2005 consumed on 12/10/05. Very soft, tangerine and honey colored pour. Unfiltered and hazy, with plenty of sediment in the bottle. Moderate sized white head quickly fizzles to a ring. No lacing. Aroma of biscuits, dry, muted clove and vanilla, touches of lemon and tangerine juice. Light honey on the end and just a touch of banana flavored oatmeal. Flavor is banana and clove, dry and wheaty, with a creamy wheatmeal sort of flavor on end, and similar chewy wheat texture. Lemon bitterness lingers on in the finish. Quite dry overall, but the light touch of honey towards the end is well-placed for maximum effect. Bubble gum esters watch from the sidelines; they are there, but not very influential. More lemon, biscuits and honey-vanilla on end with light yeast dryness/blandness. Still a bit watery from how little malt sugars there are in there. Low carbonation, lightly creamy at times.

Bottle, best before 1/12/2006, consumed on 12/10/05. Pours a copper-amber, clear. Mostly diminishing (to ring) white head is foamy. No lacing. Aroma is lightly citric hops, some faint perfuminess on the very end. Light white-dough biscuits and other than that, no malt or yeast apparency in the nose. Flavor is citric hopped, fruity (dry orange and lemon zest) and very very dry overall. Most basic of light pale malts add barely any sweetness. Low bitterness. Lively carbonation, rather watery. Very standard, generic example, though even a bit too dry and papery. Light dirtiness on end as well. I get the feeling the Two Brothers beers we are getting in Massachusetts are not in top shape.

Clear dark orange body under a small off white head. Perhaps this one is off a bit, but it has a slight vinegar aroma. Some sweetness in the flavor combined with a spritzy dryness and an acidic finish. Nice mouth feel, but not the right flavor to go with it.

An unclear orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet with strong wood notes - slightly towards port wine. The flavor is sweet with notes of prunes, wood, and alcohol. I miss more complexity.
