Tasting at ChrisOs. Almost clear dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is light and a little crisp. Good dark malt - thin but with rich chocolate. Touch of roast bitterness. Mild tangy hops with mellow tropical fruits, lime readily identifiable. A little floral character. Semi dry finish. All right.

Bottle at Chriso Easter "Flags of many nations" Tasting, 31/03/13 thanks to Craig. Dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears edgeward. Nose is hops, light chocolate, dark malt, biscuit, light tropical fruits, hint of smoke. Taste comprises chocolate, touch of grapefruit, dark toffee, hops. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, dry in the finish with some bitterness. Overall - drinkable stuff but came over a little porter like meets black IPA hybrid.

Aroma: Very rich aroma of chocolate, smoke and pine.
Appearance: Black body with brown highlights. Large off-white heads. Excellent lacing.
Taste: Dark chocolate, unripe banana and pine. Light peppery spice on the finish.
Palate: Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Gentle carbonation.
Overall: The rich malty flavours dominate the soft, citrusy hops but this is still a lovely Black IPA.

Bottle thanks to Cgarvieuk, thanks Craig. Black beer with lasting beige head. Oatmeal stouty aroma. Yes a pretty tasty stout. Bit strange on the finish. Mind you, I donβt drink tea. Starts well and tails off a bit, but I think that is the tea. Anyway, thanks a lot Craig its been a huge amount of fun drinking with you.

50cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours amber with a nicely proportioned head. The nose is mainly of elderflower with a little lemon zest. The taste has more elderflower, and some creamy grapefruit pith. The palate is light to medium in body with a creamy texture and a long and very bitter finish. Overall, I like this and wouldnβt expect to enjoy it quite so much given the bitterness. However, there is just enough creaminess on the palate to keep the drinkability.

Aroma: Dry dusty hop aroma. Fruit and herb notes.
Appearance: Clear amber body with a small off-white head. Lively carbonation. Light lacing marks.
Taste: Malty toffee flavour with white pepper and restrained citrus and mango notes. Very bitter.
Palate: Thin body with an oily texture. Average carbonation fizz.
Overall: Quite unusual but pretty tasty. I agree with a previous review that this is more of a British style IPA than an American-style, ultra hoppy IPA.
